The Genuine Scooter Company is a Chicago-based producer/distributor of motorscooters, namely the Stella (scooter) and Buddy models.

Genuine Scooters is the sister company to Scooterworks USA.

Genuine was started in 2003 with the introduction of the Stella model. The Stella is manufactured by LML with upgrades to the Piaggio Vespa PX (that it was based on) such as performance suspension and a 5-port reed valve motor.

The Stella (scooter) was immediately popular and inspired a cult following.

In 2006, Genuine Scooter Company introduced five new models. The Buddy 50, Buddy 125, Black Cat 50, Rattler 50, and Blur 150 models, manufactured by PGO of Taiwan, brought modern, automatic-transmission models to the Genuine fleet. The Buddy 125 quickly became the biggest seller for the firm.

In 2007, a special edition of the Buddy 125, called the "Series Italia," was released. In two-tone green, it outsold all other colors for the year. The Black Cat was discontinued in 2007, and a new 110cc two-stroke version of the Rattler was introduced, called the "Rattler 110" or "Buck Ten."

For 2008 the Buddy Series Italia became a 150cc, and two more "International Series" special editions were introduced: the Pamplona, a two-tone of burgundy red and cream, and the Saint Tropez, a two-tone of grey and robin's egg blue, all with the 150cc engine.

Also introduced for 2008 was the "Little Italia," a 50cc version of the Series Italia, and a new model based on the same platform as the Black Cat, the RoughHouse 50. New colors for the popular Buddy lines were also released.

In late 2007, a restructured LML started production and a limited quantity of Stella 150 scooters were produced. .
