AfD nomination of Core worlds

I have nominated Core worlds, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Core worlds. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:18, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Momofuku Ko

I wonder if you think this is worth writing an article about? We had talked on this subject before - and ended with the conclusion that only the chef was notable. Thoughts? Carte Rouge (talk) 17:04, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're still right, but at least it fills out that article some. Carte Rouge (talk) 17:44, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you have just deleted this article under CSD A7. Could you please restore it? I had taken a look at the article just before it disappeared (and added an 'unreferenced' tag) and it was clear that there were enough claims there to assert actual notability as an olympic organizer and journalist. I just did a GoogleNews search for "Robert Livingstone" olympic which returns 41 hits[1], quite a few with nontrivial coverage of him. It seems quite likely to me that the article would have passed an actual AfD debate if listed there. In any event, I do not believe this is an A7 case (the bar for overcoming A7 is quite low and it was passed here). Thanks, Nsk92 (talk) 17:09, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks! I was not the creator of this article, but I'll try to improve it a bit and, add a few references, etc. Nsk92 (talk) 17:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gregg Downer

Hi, I noticed you deleted the article on Gregg Downer. I was hoping we could discuss this. While I realize that a relationship with a famous person isn't enough, I think that being the highschool basketball coach of one of the best basketball players (although I'm not personally a big Kobe fan) in the world counts as a special case. Also, it was a requested article, Downer coaches several sports at Lower Merion, and Downer took a role in the Kobe-Shaq-Phil feud of 2001. He was very outspoken in the national media about how he felt Kobe was being treated. While he might not show up in current news articles, around that time he would've been much quoted in the news. Also, in his own right, he is 3rd on Lynchburg College's single-season steals list, and was 2nd team all-conference in college in 1986. Might this be enough to get his article reinstated? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradenkeith (talkcontribs) 16:25, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please restore Epinal American Cemetery? It was deleted as a copyvio, but the text was taken from a U.S. federal government site and therefore is in the public domain. --Eastmain (talk) 17:33, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template Deletion

Why have you deleted the templates for Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton? Neither of them had the conclusion of delete at the previous discussion quoted in your edit summary. Infact, as they are templates of films they directed, they were kept! Can you review your deletions and restore them? Lugnuts (talk) 18:15, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tony - I have no opinion on whether or not to restore this deletion, but I wanted to let you know that the result of deleting the Buster Keaton template was that many pages that transcluded it wound up in the CSD category. I cleaned up a bunch but there are more than 50 additional ones. Before I go do that work, I'll wait to see your response to this question; if it winds up being restored...no sense doing all that work twice. Cheers!  Frank  |  talk  20:12, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As per discussion on my talk page - yep, I'll happily cleanup/remove the films Chaplin & Keaton acted in, leaving only the ones they directed, if the templates are restored. Thanks! Lugnuts (talk) 07:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. I should have them cleaned up in a few days. Thanks again. Lugnuts (talk) 18:06, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Black Land / Black land

I see you redirected Black Land to Black land, and removed my {{db-author}} at Black land. I had asked for speedy deletion of Black land so that I could move Black Land to Black land. I thought this was appropriate because Black Land has a longer history (before today, Black land didn't exist) which would be preserved by the move. We need not have both pages, because searches on both "Black Land" and "Black land" are case-insensitive (see WP:CAPS). I'd appreciate it if you would either delete Black land as I requested, or perform the overall move I've described. Thank you. Noca2plus (talk) 20:28, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ROCKETON

The article on ROCKETON got deleted before I finished editing it. Just wondering if we could discuss it. They've gotten some press lately, and I know that PMOG has an article up and I think these two companies are similar.

Hi, I believe you blocked this account indefinitely for vandalism on April 1, then decided to give the editor a second chance. I've just reverted two pieces of trolling by this user. Has this person ever made any serious contributions and is it now time to reimpose the ban? Cheers. --Folantin (talk) 12:35, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers. Not a regular editor, but worth keeping an eye on. --Folantin (talk) 13:01, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of my page Rami Samuel Kivisalo

Thank you very much from your answer, it seems i understood wrong what the reason was from that deletion notice.

I guess the problem is that i need to provide more proof of his notability. I have to check if there are more recordings of his testimonies on big events that can be found online.

Or is it enough if there can be found couple of verifiable big event testimonies from him and maybe some magazines websites too that would have hes interviews online?

Gene Odom

I sometimes try to salvage articles that have been tagged for deletion, and I was editing Gene Odom at the time the article was deleted and salted. I found three articles that reviewed the book, and I think if they are added to the article it would be worth keeping. Could you please restore the article and add these three links as references?

A big thanks to both of you for the work you have done in the salvaging of this article. I didn't have time this morning to work on it. It was a very nice surprise that you beat me to it. Cheers, ⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 20:45, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

HI HELP

Jay Leslie

I don't even know how to post on a talk page. I worked really hard to create an article for my favorite magician who has a history of fame spanning through television, movies, voice over in cartoons, live shows, and patenting his own inventions starting when he was 10 years old. I had finally completed sort of a rough draft, saved it, and it was immediately deleted by you and marked as "blatant advertising" I'm no programmer, that work took me 3 hours and was made out of pure respect, you deleted it in less than 3 seconds... I can't imagine you even had time to read it, honestly. Is there any chance we can work to restore it and I can dig up more information on this famous magician, and try to post it in a way which meets with your approval? I figure certainly if Mathew Bellamy the lead singer of muse can have his own wikipedia article talking about how wonderful he is without that being deleted as blatant advertisement surely the childhood hero of a dying art is worthy of mention. Where was I wrong? Feel free to e-mail me at illeasoluminesolum@Yahoo.com or visit my myspace page at www.myspace.com/christadriscoll. I give up on wikipedia.

I requested unprotection of the page on Harry Houdini. It features the type of language and links I was using to describe Jay Leslie, I was trying my best to model the pages alike so I figured if you are a vigil to eliminate "blatant advertising" someone somewhere is still collecting royalties on houdini merchandise and whatnot so you may want to delete that page as well.

Tom Sayle

I posted an article about Andre O'demontagneuxteixteira, was it you who deleted it? Because if so, I have found reason for my article to be recreated at the following address. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom Sayle (talkcontribs) 17:52, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review for Twing

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Twing. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Scottwrites (talk) 22:11, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I believe I've addressed the original issues with the article. Primarily, notability. Specifically Wikipedia's notability criteria for web content and Wikipedia's notability criteria for organizations and companies. Secondary sources are known, reliable sources general or trade news sources. (And their content is news oriented, not merely press release fodder.) Regarding the "original research / unverified claims" is difficult to handle, other then by offering a clearer example as well as reference to appropriate research, which is more theoretical / design oriented then purely technological. As a result, the verification can be easily inferred by actually using the example offered. Scottwrites (talk) 15:13, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1977 (song)

Yes, I goofed. I was making the article on the song and saved the work when I should have just previewed it so it was just a infobox at the time. It should all be good now. Phil (talk) 16:21, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why I used Puttyschool as a user name

Dear Cobaltbluetony --Puttyschool (talk) 17:13, 27 July 2008 (UTC) I selected this user name as I’m interested in writing about computer programming and computer security, also translating all wiki pages about computer security to Arabic, this is why I select this name, I use it in Arabic wiki as well. You know, PuTTY is an old free implementation of SSH for Windows, so developers interested in building security products used the source code as an educational source code, so we don’t refer to putty as a product but as something like Linux. The name appears for me only one time while searching with Google, so I memorized it and used it to create this wiki account, not more. I don’t know what is wrong with this name. for me it is not more than a simple and easy to use name. Also if you search internet, you will find a lot of persons using this user name in different account and news groups, but I’m the first one who reserve this name in wiki. W-PuTTY-CD was my first article, so I'm still learning; also I followed all rules according to my understanding, and I’m asking administrators about writing good documents. Please do not bite the newcomers[reply]

Just a questions

Can you please tell me what you mean by (no commons); I want to know what is wrong with it so not to include it again, I used it as I found it on all pages--Puttyschool (talk) 18:57, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

>> Commons page of exactly the same name....

Thanks for the help, I added a Commons page then an image to W-PuTTY-CD, thanks it was easy--Puttyschool (talk) 11:10, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for withdrawing the AfD on this. I have to say that the article's creator did everything possible to make it sensible to do it in the first place, so I actually have to applaud you for taking the time and trouble to post the AfD... it was the right thing to do, given the circumstances. I had a particular interest in this one -- I'm a grumpy old guy who doesn't like much that he hears on the radio these days, but this particular song I enjoyed a lot. Check it out, I think it's free on iTunes. Accounting4Taste:talk 16:44, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
