Huggle not broken

A unified account seems to fix the problem. I went to Special:MergeAccount and after I could get in Huggle. --CanadianLinuxUser (talk) 18:21, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback

Bug 1 - Href

Previously reported in Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback#Bugs:

I found an error in this example (look at edit summary: Href= is not a user). It happens sometimes wen I try to revert consecutive edits by 2 or 3 different editors (not specific editors, just anyone). I'm using version 0.7.12

It seems "Href=" problem happens in any edit, doesn't matter witch users/edits/pages, doing the following sequence for example:

  • I'm seeing 1 diff (Huggle shows 2 edits of the page - 2 colored boxes)
  • I see in "User" field the correct user
  • I click in "show previous revision of this page (Z)" button
  • I see in "User" field the value "Href="
  • I click again in "show previous revision of this page (Z)" button
  • I see in "User" field the value "Href="
  • I click again in "show next revision of this page (X)" button
  • I see in "User" field the value "Href="
  • Except the last one edit, if I see others diffs from previous edits - clicking in those little colored boxes in History bar, It happens the same.

But (after doing those previous steps):

  • If I click in "History" button to retrieve all page history, its all fine: browsing history clicking in those little colored boxes or navigating through "show previous revision of this page (Z)" and "show next revision of this page (X)" buttons. Mosca (talk)

In version 0.8.1 it's not anymore "Href=". Now shows Io:Mosca (not yet written) or Io:Mosca (Mosca it's just an user example) in user field. For anonymous edits shows Ribui%C3%A7%C3%B5es/201.3.223.128 instead of 201.3.223.128. May be it's because of pt:Especial:Contribuições/201.3.223.128 special page name in portuguese, equivalent to Special:Contributions/201.3.223.128. Like in previous version, this can be "fixed" if I click in "History" button in Huggle. Mosca (talk) 22:32, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bug 2 - Last diff

Note: this bug sometimes happen, not always, don't know why. So the following description is when it "happens". Until now always happened, but I verified it again and it doesn't! Huggle must be joking!

When I see 1 diff (Huggle loads only last 2 edits to that page):

  • I click on "Show previous revision of this page" button and it shows me the correct diff
  • I click on "Show next revision of this page" button and doesn't shows me the last edit again (the first I saw), stays on previous diff.

But there are 2 situations where I can see the last diff again:

  • If I click in "History" button to retrieve all page history Its all working well, and I can see the last edit/diff, even if I browsed throw history
  • If I click in the previous little box/edit with right mouse button.

Suggestion 2 - Grey list

Option to always show certain users in "Filtered changes", although they are in White List because Huggle adds them automatically. Could be in another list "Grey List" or something. Can be useful if we want to patrol certain users like "Commons Delinker" with a lot of edits or others users each wikipedia project could choose. This option is for those projects Huggle communities/projects who decide to automatically add users with more than XX edits but at the same time exclude from filter some users witch have those edits.

Suggestion 8 - improved history

In "contributions bar" where it shows those little colored boxes, should have a little extra space if previous contributions where made some time ago (1 week for example).

  • Example: user X made the following edits:
    • 1 June article A
    • 1 June article B
    • 15 June article C
    • 30 June article D
    • 1 August article E
    • 18 August article F
    • 20 August article G
  • Contributions bar:
  • Note: I'm suggesting only acording to last edits, and not according to all edits. It's not necessary and would be a mess (or may be not):

This idea could be in "History" too, showing a little extra space between recent edits and previous edits made a week before. I think this idea is only useful to see if an anonymous user made vandalism recently to other pages. It's not important to see differences more than 1 week before because most IP change regularly, and the same IP can be used to good faith edits and bad faith edits.

The date of edit is shown in the 'tooltip' that appears when you hold the mouse over the icons. Putting in gaps would be quite difficult to do, and would only visualize what the tooltip already shows.

Flagged revisions

Hi.

Thank you for this very nice tool. It is used more and more often on the German Wikipedia. But on de-WP we use Flagged Revisions, so it would be nice to have a button in order to mark a version as "sighted" and go to the next edit. The Russian Wikipedia also uses flagged revisions. --Euku 15:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heyho,
is it possible to integrate in Huggle, that in german wikipedia users do automatic sight a version, when next version in tab on the left side get clicked? Another button is senceful, to skip version, without sighting. That would be very excellent, for this at this time much excellent tool! Greetings from Dresden, Conny (talk) 08:59, 29 August 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Wikipedia:Flagged_revisions is turned on on german wikipedia. Conny (talk) 09:01, 29 August 2008 (UTC).[reply]

On the no-wiki we use a (similar) system. Every edits done by IPs and other newcomers get tagged with a red exclamation mark (! – like the third line in this picture) and patrollers/administrators can press a button "Merk som patruljert" saying the edit has been patrolled (Patrol log [1]). Adding an icon that sends a a press to this button would be great (ex. this edit I marked patrolled by sending this [2]!). Nsaa (talk) 22:23, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And en.wikipedia uses a 'patrolling' system, but only for new pages. If only everyone could settle on the same system, rather than using three different MediaWiki extensions. I will have to implement them all... -- Gurch (talk) 09:52, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is it possible to only add a key shortcut (config page?) to mark a version patrolled and show the ! in the window? (for the no-version). Nsaa (talk) 12:08, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but I dont quite get what you mean. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 17:00, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In no. non-patrolled edits show up with a red "!" in Special:Recentchanges. The rest of the request I don't really get either. Calvin 1998 (t·c) 22:07, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to this option?

In version 0.8.1, what happened to the option to only show edits by IP users? RainbowOfLight Talk 07:36, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. If you go into the queues drop down list and then click on manage queues a new window will open. In this window you can select if you want to view anonymous users or not. Require anon users for only anon users to show. I hope this helps. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 16:55, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aha, I didn't realize those Xs and lines were clickable. New problem: Under the Page Title filters tab, I can't get my preferences to stick. I'm under the Filtered edits menu (selected on the left), and under that tab under Namespaces, if I uncheck anything and close the window, as soon as I open it everything is checked again. RainbowOfLight Talk 08:56, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum: Now it seems to be saving them until I turn off Huggle. RainbowOfLight Talk 08:59, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Added to the google code tracker here and archiving from this page. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:11, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Happened 4 times when I click "New tab". The other one happened when I was browsing throw history of an article. Any way I can continue using Huggle without quiting it. Mosca (talk) 01:54, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"resource", not "recourse", unless I'm mistaken? That's a bug, unfortunately. Calvin 1998 (t·c) 02:13, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are right. My mistake. Mosca (talk) 06:03, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I hadn't gotten an emailed version for a long while and today I finally wondered by to see why and found that we're downloading it ourselves now. I did so uneventfully, but when I tried to run it it immediately gave me the following error even before bringing up the login page.

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

  at Huggle.LoginForm.OK_Click()
  at Huggle.LoginForm._Lambda$__120(Object a0, EventArgs a1)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

I can click "continue" to bring up the login page, but the project list is blank and typing in my login information just brings back the same error. I have FF and Chrome running and tried firing up my IE to see if that made a difference, nada. Any hints here would be appreciated. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:33, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I get the same as the first two when I attempt to download it. I tried downloading in both FF and IE. Jennavecia (Talk) 12:07, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I just checked again. I'm getting two different error messages- one before the login dialog and another one after it. Then, of course, I can't log in since the project field is blank. Here are the error messages:

After clicking my desktop shortcut and before the login dialog:

ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: key

  at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowArgumentNullException(ExceptionArgument argument)
  at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.FindEntry(TKey key)
  at Huggle.ConfigIO.LoadLocalConfig()

  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

After clicking "continue" to the previous error and filling out my login information, there comes this error:

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

  at Huggle.LoginForm.OK_Click()
  at Huggle.LoginForm._Lambda$__120(Object a0, EventArgs a1)

Please, any help would be appreciated here. The program won't work and I really miss using it! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 14:59, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately the only thing we can do is wait for Gurch to get around to fixing this (it's a bug, as far as I know), and release a new version. You'll just have to deal with not having it for a while. Or you can use 0.7.12, it's still enabled... Calvin 1998 (t·c) 05:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the advice. I didn't know I could download and use the previous version- that one is working just fine now. Thanks again! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 07:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am having the exact same problem. Net 2.0, with Windows XP SP3. Guess I'll have to stick with Version 7.12 or whatever the previous version was. Vandalism destroyer (talk) 14:20, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Found out how to fix it. Download the latest version of that NET framework stuff. 2.0 doesnt't seem to like it or something.

Bug moving a page

I moved the page in Huggle (version 0.8.1) pt:Sascsi to pt:Serial Attached SCSI as we can see here successfully but Huggle shows in log:

2008-09-11 05:44:14 (+01:00) -- Did not move 'Sascsi' to 'Serial Attached SCSI'; the target might already exist

I tried it again in another page and shows me the same error although Huggle moved the page. Mosca (talk) 06:03, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to mention: Huggle doesn't shows the new edit in "history bar" (in this case that was added "REDIRECT: XYZ"). Still showing previous diff before moving the page. Any way this is not very important to fix right now, since I can move pages and there are others bugs more important to all Huggle users. Mosca (talk) 07:22, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think I speak for everyone when I say we sincerely appreciate all the time all of you have and continue to put in. Huggle is an amazingly useful tool and kudos to Gurch for creating it and to all the devs who continue to improve it. I will be putting in a blurb in the download section about using version 0.7.12 if 0.8.1 won't run so that people don't get turned off to the tool before they see it work. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 17:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Web 2.0?

Does Huggle require Web 2.0 to run? FusionMix 19:35, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The .NET Framework 2.0 yes... Web 2.0 is a general term for the 2nd web generation... Reedy
No, it does not require Web 2.0, as there's no AJAX, JavaScript, Flash, overly large icons, fancy glass effects, blogs, social networking, complex CSS layouts, technology investment bubbles or context-sensitive Google Ads. There is user-generated content, but that can't really be helped -- Gurch (talk) 17:15, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I use version 0.8.1 almost without problems on pt.wikipedia (not with all options, of course). I tried it today on es.wikipedia and it showed me that error. Never saw it before on pt.wikipedia. Warn Suggestion

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to create an option to open the warn "box" (labeled as advanced) upon pressing the warn key rather than having the warn drop down menu open. I am suggesting this because I normally only (I'm assuming others are in the same boat too) need to do a revert and then warn if I am skipping a warning level like going from level one warning to three, or starting off at a level two. It makes it a lot easier than hitting w, then manually opening the advanced box. Dadude3320 21:36, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Problem

Is it just me, or is the new version slower than the previous version? Especially when Huggle is reverting an edit or warning a user, loading pages is very slow. Also, sometimes when I try to revert an edit, it shows that it is being reverted (the message is displayed at the bottom) but after a while the message disappears and the edit is not reverted. This is not because of an edit conflict or another user had already reverted it, as the vandal edit is still there. Chamal Talk ± 05:16, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's been really slow for me lately, it might have something to do with the servers rather than Huggle itself. Although I think that has something to do with the depressingly enormous pings we get from US servers in Australia, so I dunno. That doesn't help you at all. --Closedmouth (talk) 06:44, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have all that symptoms too in portuguese wikipedia. Don't know if it's Huggle or Wikimedia servers. It's very annoying having to revert edits in external browser sometimes. Huggle is so useful. When it fails, I feel I returned to stone age. Mosca (talk) 07:22, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whitelist improvement suggestion and Undo option

If possible, Huggle (or any other external tool?) should check if any user in Wikipedia:Huggle/Whitelist had changed is username in Special:Log/renameuser recently. I saw one user in Portuguese Wikipedia with a lot of edits had changed is user name. Is new name was added to whitelist automatically by Huggle, but is previous username was not removed from Whitelist automatically. In this case he didn't created again is previous user account so someone could recreate it. This is not a problem if the user (or bureocrat, depending of Wikimedia project changing usernames policies) had created is previous user account. But there is a chance someone create an account with is previous username (intensionally or not). This is not a top priority, since is not very probable and is less important than present bugs, but could be implemented in the future.

Is any option in Huggle to undo a single previous edit like Help:Revert#Undo? Mosca (talk) 07:22, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Viewing user contributions?

I remember that the previous version of Huggle had an option to view a user's contributions (the option was located next to "New pages", "Filtered changes" etc.), but this seems to have disappeared in the latest version. Or have I simply forgotten to enable some feature to make that option re-appear? Please advise. It Is Me Here (talk) 18:00, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Low priority request

Although in no way essential, it would be rather nifty to have Huggle configure the vandalism information template at the press of a button. StaticGull  Talk  12:40, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose it would be nice4 to have another form to be able to change the comment e.t.c from. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 13:00, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If I was going in that direction, I would have Huggle update that template automatically based on activity data. I've already written and tested code which will do that. However, that would no doubt annoy people, and so I would have to do it in a separate template, which nobody would ever look at, which would be pointless, and indeed the template is pointless for Huggle users anyway since Huggle displays activity statistics already -- Gurch (talk) 21:27, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Configuration keeps getting reverted

Whenever I add new edit summaries or warnings to my configuration subpage, it get reverted back as soon as I use Huggle. It doesn't matter if I've added them manually or through the Huggle Options module. Once I use Huggle and exit, the new warnings and edit summaries disappear. I'm using the new version. Is there at least a way that I can prevent Huggle from "updating" my configuration? ... discospinster talk 19:51, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Computer resources

Huggle becomes VERY resource intensive whenever I switch to the "All changes" queue, to the point that it locks up my computer. Now i'm not sure, but I think this might have to do with the fact that my cpu is only rated at 700 mhz. just wanted to let you know. Vandalism destroyer (talk) 00:34, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mkay, i can't stand how slow this version is compared to 7.12. It is possible to make a version thats far less resource intensive, so instead of using fancy 3D icons with shading and whatnot, just use flat textured icons. This would be a nice version for someone like me with a very old and slow computer Vandalism destroyer (talk) 00:34, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The icons are just embedded .png files, I'm pretty sure they are not responsible for any performance issues. I develop and test Huggle on an 800 MHz CPU and haven't noticed excessive usage except when loading very large diffs, and that is the browser component trying to render it, which isn't my code. The queues do work differently in the newer version, a necessity in order to allow the customization features that have been added. Does the "All changes" queue always cause excessive CPU usage, or only when it gets over a certain size? If so, how big does it get before this happens? -- Gurch (talk) 10:29, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well when my computer froze, the all changes list was like 500 changes long. I've sinced changed the settings to trim all changes to 1 minute long, and it works better, but still seems slower than 7.12

I used to have a bit of trouble with that too. Although it might not be CPU (might be memory, I don't keep monitors on everything). It starts to get slow after a few hundred. By 500 it was stalling my computer and crashing the core OS processes :( (and my computer isn't that slow either... it's a 2GHz dual-core with 1GB RAM). I have a 1 minute expiry set now. Calvin 1998 (t·c) 04:42, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Odd. I just loaded 0.8.1 and let the all changes queue accumulate 500 items. At that point it was using 56 MB of memory (most of which is the .NET runtime itself, rather than Huggle), and averaging around 20% of CPU time. I tested it up to the maximum of 5000 items before release and the figures were little different. Perhaps I should run it through a profiler -- Gurch (talk) 17:55, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whitelist updating appears on vandal title instead

I just got done using Huggle, and the program automatically updated the whitelist, but it instead went to the title that "Grawp" moved to. How can it be? The Whitelist page should be move-protected, so this won't happen in the future. SchfiftyThree 00:25, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's move-protected now. (and I think might be semi'd too). Calvin 1998 (t·c) 02:41, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

O_o wtf!?

I just had something very unusual happen to me while using Huggle 0.7.12.

I was doing reverts and stuff to vandalism, and recently received a "RickK Anti-Vandalism Barn-star". A few minutes later, I go to do a revert, and I get this dialog that says "You have been blocked from editing." I feel my heart shoot right though my body, down the second floor, and onto the basement floor. I'm thinking: Oh ^&%#. Wtf did I do!? I go to my talk page in Firefox, and I see no indication of me being blocked in my talk page. The same goes for my user page.

I go back into huggle, and attempt to do a revert, and it works like normal again. So what the heck happened there? It scared the heck outta me. Is it a glitch, or was I actually blocked for a split second? --Vandalism destroyer (talk) 03:44, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This has come up before. It may be that huggle is throwing up the "you have been blocked" message if the edit fails for other reasons such as the "mediawiki error" messages that are unfortunatly becoming more common.--Ron Ritzman (talk) 03:58, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if this is your case, but you see exactly this message "You user account appears to be blocked from editing" when you try to edit/revert a protected page and you are not an administrator. Feature request: diff showing net edits by most recent contributor

I don't think this has been asked for before, I dug through the archives and didn't see it. Anyways, popups has* a function that lets you see the net change from all of the edits the latest contributor has made to an article since the previous contributor. In other words, the diff shows what you'll be changing back if you hit the rollback button. I have found this not only makes it easier to spot an unworthy series of edits, it also helps prevent unwarranted reversions too. *Or had a function, it hasn't worked for me for the past few months now.Elipongo (Talk contribs) 05:21, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Going to the user's first edit and then pressing "D" (assuming the user is also responsible for the last edit) should work. StaticGull  Talk  15:10, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's also possible to use this function by dragging the mouse to and from any edit. StaticGull  Talk  13:43, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That only works if Huggle loaded all the edits, which on my machine anyways it doesn't seem to do very often. I usually have to page back through the page revisions until I hit a trusted user before I can do a comparison to the latest revision. It would be really nice if Huggle would do that either by default or with a single button click. It would also prevent confusion between similar looking IP addresses. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 01:44, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The edit loading problem can be solved by pressing "H", or by messing around in the configuration. StaticGull  Talk  11:56, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll give that a shot, though I still sorely miss the way popups use to do it. Thanks for the help! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:51, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Unable to login." Can not use either version of Huggle at all

Just downloaded Huggle today, (newest version gives me the same exceptions as the ones posted above so I'm using the older one) and whenever I try to login, knowing my password is correct, it always gives me an "Unable to login" message. I have no firewall connected and no proxy settings, so I'm really unsure as to what could be causing this. Just wanted to also mention that I've tried it the past two days as well and it still hasn't worked, so I'm going to assume it's something on my end (not on Wikipedia's or Huggle's). However, I am still unsure as to what can be happening as I am behind no firewalls or proxies. Any help would be appreciated. :) --RazorICE 13:54, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think there's an issue with accounts not SUL-unified not being able to log in. Calvin 1998 (t·c) 08:20, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible problem: Reverting whitelisted users?

It seems there may be a small issue with reverting in the new 0.8.1 version. Over the last two days i noticed several times that if an user edits a page before my revert is passed trough, both the vandals edit and the legitimate users edit is reverted, no matter if the user is a whitelisted user. The problem lies in this: "Reverted 2 edits by Fieldday-sunday and 92.43.64.77 to an older version by 92.43.64.77". The revert tackles the vandalism, then reverts another user (In this case a vandalism patrol) and then ends up restoring a vandalism version from the original vandal. These diffs are examples of this: [3] [4] [5] Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 14:11, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you intentionally reverting only one of the vandal's edits? If so, why? -- Gurch (talk) 16:09, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is what happens:

1:(cur) (last) 15:26, 18 September 2008 Excirial (Talk | contribs) m (9,873 bytes) (Reverted 2 edits by Fieldday-sunday and 92.43.64.77 to an older version by 92.43.64.77 (HG)) (undo)
2:(cur) (last) 15:25, 18 September 2008 Fieldday-sunday (Talk | contribs) m (9,868 bytes) (Reverted edits by 92.43.64.77 to last version by Ossmann (HG)) (undo)
3:(cur) (last) 15:25, 18 September 2008 92.43.64.77 (Talk) (9,872 bytes) (→Concept cars) (undo)
4:(cur) (last) 15:24, 18 September 2008 92.43.64.77 (Talk) (9,873 bytes) (→Concept) (undo)
  1. In this case i was looking at the diff between edit 3 and 4.
  2. Fieldday-sunday reverts edit 3 and 4, thus creating edit 2.
  3. Seconds later i revert based upon the diff i am still looking at (3-4).
  4. What happens now is that edit 2 and 3 are reverted without warning, even though the top edit is made by whitelisted user Fieldday-sunday. The edit reverted to however is edit 4, an edit also made by the vandal.

I am not intentionally reverting only one of the vandals edits; Huggle seems to make that decision on its own. I am fairly certain i didn't mix up a setting because huggle will revert as expected in case a vandal makes several edits in a row. (IE: if i would have pressed revert before edit number 2 would have been made, all the edits 92.43.64.77 made in a row are reverted, no matter if its 2 or 20). I hope this clarifies the situation a little bit. Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 19:49, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it should be reverting past 4 anyway, and thus in this situation edit 1 would be a null edit and not saved. I suspect someone has changed one of the rollback error messages, so Huggle doesn't know what's going on and screws up. The best solution to that, of course, is to use something designed for automated processes, i.e. the MediaWiki API, rather than relying on HTML-scraping which periodically breaks. So why don't I do that in Huggle? Well, I'd happily use the API, but it's rather broken. You can't rollback edits by anonymous users through it, for a start, which makes it rather useless. And yes, I have filed a bug report, and it's even been fixed, but the fix hasn't gone live yet. Indeed no MediaWiki bug fixes have gone live at all for two weeks now -- Gurch (talk) 23:40, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

However, Wikipedia is giving me all kinds of errors when trying to submit changes. StaticGull  Talk  13:39, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It means that it tried to rollback and got an error back. You know how sometimes you try to load a page and get "Wikipedia has a problem" or the teal error page, but then the next thing you try it works fine? That sort of thing. It usually works when it retries, and if it doesn't will usually work if you try again -- Gurch (talk) 17:58, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add to this issue, I've been figuring out how to fix this and found that my usual account can login whereas my doppelgänger account cannot and crashes as others mentioned. Only difference between the two was that this account has SUL whereas my Huggle-only account does not. Migrated my Huggle account to SUL and now it logs in fine. Why exactly it now seemingly requires SUL active accounts is beyond me but it solved it for me and may be the same for others. treelo radda 19:22, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, but most likely unrelated, I usually use 0.7.12 but now can use 0.8.1 whereas before I wasn't able to due to it not being able to retrieve the projects. treelo radda 19:27, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mmm, yeah - I set up a unified account today (without seeing this, heh) and I can now log in again. That would appear to be the issue. Ale_Jrbtalk 19:31, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much Treelo. :) Ncmvocalist (talk) 19:49, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Thanks for figuring out that problem. --Captain-tucker (talk) 20:20, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the solution, Huggle 0.7.12 seems to work like normal now but I still can't see the list of Wikipedia projects on version 0.8.1. - Nick C (t·c) 20:48, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
SOLUTION a unified account does work ! I went to Special:MergeAccount and after I could get in Huggle. --CanadianLinuxUser (talk) 21:00, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks from me too. It was about time I set up a SUL anyway :)  —SMALLJIM  21:57, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd been having no end of problems with Huggle over the last few days but a unified account seems to have sorted me out. Thanks for finding a solution :) Fieldday-sunday (talk) 23:27, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any other possible solution? I don't want to unify my account. Useight (talk) 01:46, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Failure to download

I have IE7 and Windows XP SP2 (at least), but huggle doesn't download. Both v0.8 and the older v0.7 won't download. v0.8 won't download at all, but v0.7 will. However, when I try to install after the download it comes up with an error that says "failure to initialize." Someone please help. Thanks, RockManQ (talk) 01:47, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can't download the file from Google Code here? And you might also want to note that huggle requires the .NET Framework 2.0, as mentioned in the manual. If not, the file won't execute. Calvin 1998 (t·c) 01:57, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh ok. Thanks, RockManQ (talk) 03:25, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

– like the third line in this picture) and patrollers/administrators can press a button "Merk som patruljert" saying the edit has been patrolled (Patrol log [6]). Adding an icon that sends a a press to this button would be great (ex. this edit I marked patrolled by sending this [7]!).

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

  at Huggle.LoginForm.OK_Click()
  at Huggle.LoginForm._Lambda$__120(Object a0, EventArgs a1)

  at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

After clicking "continue" to the previous error and filling out my login information, there comes this error:

Unfortunately the only thing we can do is wait for Gurch to get around to fixing this (it's a bug, as far as I know), and release a new version. You'll just have to deal with not having it for a while. Or you can use 0.7.12, it's still enabled... Calvin 1998 (t·c) 05:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the advice. I didn't know I could download and use the previous version- that one is working just fine now. Thanks again! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 07:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any help would be appreciated :) --60.242.106.22 (talk) 09:05, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

These diffs are examples of this: [8] [9] [10] Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 14:11, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It means that it tried to rollback and got an error back. You know how sometimes you try to load a page and get "Wikipedia has a problem" or the teal error page, but then the next thing you try it works fine? That sort of thing.

Aw, man, I don't wanna make another account. Oh well, here I go. Vandalism destroyer (talk) 02:58, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Go figure, it worked. RainbowOfLight Talk 05:59, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle keeps on going though. I love 0.8.1 by the way.:D--Xp54321 (Hello!Contribs) 03:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
