Located 10 km (6 miles) far from Chalon-sur-Saône (Burdundy's second largest city), Givry is a nice town, famous for its listed monuments and its wines.
Surrounded on the South-east by the commune's forest, and on the West by vineyards, Givry also counts three charming hams: Cortiambles, Poncey et Russilly.

Givry's foundation dates back to the Gallo-Roman era. Its fortifications were built in the Middle Ages.
