Thanks for help on my user page

I appreciate you reverting that editor! I wouldn't have confronted him, except he seemed to be on a spree, but one that didn't get any warnings posted to his talk page. Best regards, Piano non troppo (talk) 05:39, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who Are You?

It is my firm belief that all Wikipedia commentators and contributors should be required to participate under their own names. Anonymous participation is an encouragement to abuse. Virgil H. Soule (talk) 17:48, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

:Declining to answer. Also, per the comment I posted on your talk, you are banned from editing on my talk page or contacting me in irc, but you may email me to appeal. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 21:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Striken, per talk on your page. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 00:58, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You people in irc won't respond without a helpme tag, will you? :P

{{helpme}} Can someone take a look at this: [1]

And tell me if this was a legitimate action? NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 20:53, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Pointy, aren't you? I think that might have been a little much to ban them from your talk page, but eh. It's your talk page. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 21:01, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • (edit conflict) It's an odd request, and certainly not one you're obliged to fulfill; repeatedly demanding another user's personal information could arguably be seen as violating our policy regarding Wikipedia:Harassment. Certainly the community has strongly rejected numerous proposals that would require editors to identify by their real names. That said, I'm not sure why you would "ban" the user from your talk page for asking once -- wouldn't it be easier to just decline to answer? I can't help but feel I'm missing something. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:07, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention: This user has also contacted me via irc to demand much of the same. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 21:08, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching

Let me take some time to gather my thoughts first. I'd like to coach you, just hang in there. In the meanwhile, though, I would encourage you to go through the Admin reading list thoroughly while you wait. Continue your great work! I look forward to coaching you and seeing what type of asset you will be for Wikipedia. bibliomaniac15 23:38, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, thanks a lot! I clicked on that page...and I found that every single link was purple. I guess I've read them all before :D I'll give them a reread though. Thanks again for deciding to coach me. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 23:41, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've started your page. Please consider the questions. bibliomaniac15 00:33, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whenever I feel like it, I log on to the main #wikipedia. I used to use Freenode, but now Chatzilla makes things easier for me. I don't use #wikipedia-admins, because of the ArbCom brouhaha and because I believe that all my decisions should be made here. bibliomaniac15 02:28, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to say hi!

Hello, NuclearWarfare. I just wanted to give you a nod so you can finally know my username... I'm a good friend of Schzmo in real life. If you still don't know who I am, pop me an email so I can tell you. Oh, and good luck with your admin coaching! DARTH PANDAtalk 00:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I would be extremely interested in that article. Good to see you know who I am. Do you care if I mention you on my userpage as you have mentioned others and if I steal that awesome toolbar from your userpage? DARTH PANDAtalk 00:15, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead. In fact, I have to add you :) Oh and steal that toolbar. It is a tweaked version of User:Sephiroth BCR/Menu. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 00:18, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers, and thanks! DARTH PANDAtalk 01:03, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Huggle seems to be having issues with marking pages as patrolled. I can see it trying to do that on the bottom (in the log) but it always fails for some odd reason. Otherwise, I would be marking those pages. And I'd far rather be templated than rickrolled... It has less embarrassment. DARTH PANDAtalk 01:20, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Templating

Hello! I appreciate your message, but I don't believe your Level 1 template was appropriate. Ecoleetage (talk) 21:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You know, I probably should have custom messaged you instead; I agree. I apologize if the template bothered you, for I didn't feel it was as bad as you are making it out to me. In any case though, I do apologize for template you. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 21:07, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you've done the same thing with a few other editors. As an exercise in good faith, I might recommend that you remove those templates, too. I've already deleted your message from display on my Talk Page. Thank you. Ecoleetage (talk) 21:18, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I actually don't think I will, and let me explain why. Level 1 templates are meant to be a good faith friendly reminder. UW-Patrolled has no level 2, 3 or 4, and never assumes bad faith or becomes hostile. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 22:58, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's your call -- I prefer personalized messages, but that's my style. No harm done. Ecoleetage (talk) 23:40, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrolling

Hi there NuclearWarfare. Never knew about the marking of new pages! I'm actually not checking the new pages per se, I'm using Vandal Fighter to do some anti-vandalism work (it just so happens that quite a lot of vandalism is through new pages!) Unfortunately it would appear that when you link to a new page through vandal fighter, it doesn't count it as going through WP:NPPLOG and so doesn't bring up the option to mark as patrolled.

Thanks for the info though, well worth remembering in the future! --Samtheboy (t/c) 22:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, oh well. Perhaps you want to check out User:J.delanoy/newpage.js? It's a new page patrolling script. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 23:22, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What does the script actually do? There's no info on it there :D --Samtheboy (t/c) 05:18, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I should have told you that :) Underneath the navigation, search and interaction boxes on the left hand side of the page, it adds a new box called "new pages." If you hit "enable this box," it expands to a list of the 50 most recent new pages, with a yellow background for those that haven't been patrolled. It's like a handier Special:NewPages. NPP

Unfortunately, Twinkle will not mark a page as patrolled when it also marks it for speedy. Frequently, by the time I get back to marking a page as patrolled (which involves another step, somewhat defeating the purpose of Twinkle), the article is already gone. So I simply stopped taking the extra step, as it was a waste of time. I've often found others not doing this and I will call up a new page that has been marked for speedy but not as patrolled, and I'll mark it as patrolled. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:08, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do know this, as I use twinkle as well. One way I have found to get around this is to open ten or so unpatrolled pages at a time and check them. If they need to be deleted, I'll tag this with Twinkle and use the mouse wheel to click on the Mark as Patrolled link before the page refreshes. After all of this, I just do a mass close of all the tabs I open. Do you want to try this? It would really help out. :) NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 17:11, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks

Hello NuclearWarfare. Thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for Adminship, which was successful with 111 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. I have to say I am more than a little overwhelmed by this result and I greatly appreciate your trust in me. I will do my best to use the tools wisely. Thanks again. Regards. AFD relistings

When relisting an AFD please don't forget to remove or comment out the transclusion of that AFD on the old page and place it on the new page instead. Stifle (talk) 00:04, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've been using script to relist AfDs. Perhaps I will refrain from doing so until it is fixed. Do you want to pop a note to the author? NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 00:26, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page move (GPRS Tunnelling)

Hello. Why did you move the page GPRS Tunnelling Protocol before the discussion period was over? see Talk:GPRS Tunnelling Protocol#Requested_move: the move is contested, and that even the nominator now seems to disagree with the move. Can I suggest to move it back, until a consensus is reached? Cheers 87.115.25.106 (talk) 19:43, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
