José Olalla was a Cuban friar, beatified in 2008. [2] He was abandoned at 30 days of age, and was raised in an orphanage in Havana. A member of the Hospitallier Order of Saint John of God, he helped the sick and wounded during Cuba's Ten Years' War, giving aid to people on both sides. Raul Castro attended his beatification ceremony.
