Sovereigntists (Catalan: Sobiranistes) is a political party based in Catalonia formed by a splinter group from Catalunya en Comú (CatComú) led by Joan Josep Nuet and Elisenda Alamany.[1][2] Initially constituted as a political platform within CatComú in October 2018,[3] it was formally registered as a party on 21 February 2019.[4][5] Ahead of the 2019 Spanish general election it negotiated an electoral alliance with Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC),[6][7] agreeing to field candidates in ERC's list for Barcelona.[8]
