Elizabeth Imogene Webber Spencer is a fictional character on the American soap opera General Hospital, who has been played by actress Rebecca Herbst since 1997. In 1999, the role brought Herbst the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress, as well as an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress.

Character background
The character is the granddaughter of Dr. Steve Hardy, one of General Hospital's original characters. Elizabeth first came to Port Charles as a rebellious teenager who was compared unfavorably to her "perfect" older sister Sarah. She was raped and was helped in the aftermath by Lucky Spencer, who became her boyfriend and later her husband. She has a toddler son, Cameron, by the now deceased Alexander "Zander" Smith (born Alexander Lewis). She was also previously married to Ric Lansing. She miscarried his child when she was pushed down a flight of stairs by Ric's jealous ex-lover Faith Roscoe. However, Ric blamed his half-brother, mobster Sonny Corinthos. He had a mental breakdown and abducted Sonny's pregnant wife Carly, kept her chained to the wall in a panic room in his home with Elizabeth, and planned to give Carly's baby to Elizabeth to raise. Elizabeth knew nothing of Ric's crimes and, when she learned of them, ultimately divorced him. She had a one-night stand with Zander during her break-up with Ric. Afterwards, she reconciled briefly with Ric and planned to raise Cameron with him. However, Ric and Elizabeth were unable to get past his obsession with his brother, Sonny Corinthos. She again miscarried in 2005 a surrogate baby for Jasper "Jax" Jacks and Courtney Matthews. She had offered to be a surrogate to earn money to help pay for Lucky's medical bills. She is a nurse at General Hospital and is currently dealing with her police officer husband Lucky's addiction to painkillers.

2006 pregnancy
After discovering her husband in bed with Maxie Jones, Elizabeth then slept with old flame Jason Morgan. She later discovered that she is pregnant, with paternity uncertain since she used a faulty Enduro condom manufactured by ELQ, the Quartermaine family company (a batch of faulty condoms which also caused other unplanned pregnancies in Port Charles). Elizabeth has started divorce proceedings to end her marriage to Lucky. The father of Elizabeth's baby is either Lucky or Jason. Results of a prenatal paternity test were looked at by Elizabeth in October 2006, but she then burned the results before they were revealed to the audience. Currently all of the other characters on the show, including both Lucky and Jason, are assuming that Lucky is the father. Elizabeth is not disagreeing with them, but her reactions are ambiguous as to whether or not this assumption is correct. Lucky, currently in drug rehab, is also still unaware of Elizabeth's affair with Jason. At the reception of Luke and Lauras wedding Elizabeth found out that Jason may be dead. After heaing this she collapsed. Elizabeth is alright but Jason may not, so she started praying for Jason in the chapel. while praying she heard Jason moan, and begged him to stay alive, because he is her baby's father. In a recent preview, it is shown that Lucky Spencer and Jason Morgan find out the true paternity of the baby Elizabeth is caarying. This happens because of a car accident Elizabeth is in.
