General Information The PWFD is part of Nassau County, NY's 8th battalion. The PWFD is one of the busiest fire depts in the state of New York. The PWFD covers the town of Port Washington, the Village of Flower Hill, the Village of Port Washington North, the Village of Baxter Estates, the Village of Sands Point, and the Village of Manorhaven.

Port Washington has three(3) cheifs. 8500, 8501,8502. Recently during the summer of 2006 cheif 8501 was critically injured in the line of duty in New York City. Companies: The Port Washington Fire Dept has four(4) companies: Company One(1)is Atlantic Hook and Ladder Co.1--The rescue/truck company of the PWFD. Company Two(2)is Protection Engine Co.1--One of two engine companies of the PWFD. Comapny Three(3)is Flower Hill Hose Co.1--One of two engine companies of the PWFD. Company Four(4)is Fire Medics Co.1--The EMS(Emergency Medical Service)company of the PWFD.
