Olexandr Bortnyk (born 18 October 1996) is a Ukrainian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 2015, at the age of 19. He streams regularly on Twitch.[1] He founded The Bornik Chess Academy.[2]

Career

In 2014, Bortnyk won the World Youth Chess Championships in the Under 18 category.

Oleksandr Bortnyk has an older brother, Mykola Bortnyk, who also plays chess and holds the title International Master.

Oleksandr Bortnyk won the European Youth Chess Championship in 2010 and 2011 under 14s and 16 boys categories.

He came first in the World Youth Chess Championship of 2014 under 18s.

He was second to Hikaru Nakamura in the World Bullet Championship of 2019.[3]
