Arabic

Hello. I have seen you struggled in the past with notorious ignorant user:Gene Nygaard on categorization issues on Arabic articles. Now he is still reverting proper (according to other Arabic user) categorization of As-Salif. User Anas Salloum said to me, it should be properly sorted under "S". Could you please add this article to your watchlist or comment in some way? I fear I am losing my patience with him and I fear I will finally lose my mind one day and block him. Thank you. - Darwinek 10:47, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to comment at Talk:As-Salif. Thank you. - Darwinek 14:42, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe categorization rules for Arabic articles should be added to WP:AMOS? - Darwinek 14:46, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They should be added there and also mentioned in the categorization policy page. I will start a discussion this Thursday probably, and I'll invite you both, along with many experienced editors to join the discussion and make this official. ← ANAS Talk? 15:28, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That would be best. I am looking forward for your action. - Darwinek 15:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:William alex.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:William alex.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - Tragic Baboon (banana receptacle) 19:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Al Imran

Striver, Al Imran is MUCH more common than Aale Imran. 124,000 rather than 1,840 when googled. Also, most translations I've seen use that. Please don't just change things like this without discussion! I know someone thought it should be "Ali Imran" and I don't mind if we have a standard... but, I made most of the sura pages from the USC spellings... that's not to say they're perfect but at least we had a standard. If you want to propose a better way... maybe a formal transliteration system could be used with proper accents--I'd be open to that... but, it needs to be discussed.

In any case, hope you're doing well. Have a good eid? --gren グレン 06:54, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Kindi

Hi Striver. I would appreciate your input in this debate. ← ANAS Talk? 12:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated the article List of Sahaba not giving bay'ah to Abu Bakr for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Sahaba not giving bay'ah to Abu Bakr. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article List of Sahaba not giving bay'ah to Abu Bakr during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. Assistance

Striver, admins think this userbox is innapropriate

Whenever I discuss this issue with an administrator, another comes along and blanks my userpage. I contribute barely to Wikipedia because I learned my lesson and I know what these pigs are made of. Someday the Western Wall will collapse over their heads. Until this day, help me on this if you will. Why do people have the right to have "I support Israel" userboxes or "I support the United States of America", while "I support armed resistance/Hezbollah is considered inappropriate? Embargo 19:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Think of it this way. You can support Hezbollah. Another user can support Israel. However, neither of you should talk about how you support armed resistance that could affect the life of another user or their family. I don't see any reason you can't have a userbox for supporting Hezbollah... but, tone down the whole armed resistance thing. It is fairly insensitive. (and, yes, it would be insensitive for an Israeli support to have "This user supports armed resistance against terrorism." Users shouldn't be provocative and that is provocative. gren グレン 02:43, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Shia Islam navigation box and the picture on top implies in some way that the Shi'a prefer Ali over the Prophet (saws). The reason Shi'as follow Ali is because the Prophet appointed him to succeed him. In this navigation box we should show our devotion to the Prophet and his family and not only Ali so that Sunnis won't have something to hold against us. I hope you could reply.
