Template:Coronation Street character Chesney Battersby-Brown (né Brown) is a child star of the British soap opera Coronation Street. He is played by Sam Aston.

Chesney-related storylines

Chesney first appeared in Coronation Street in 2003, when nine years old, as the younger brother of Fiz Brown. Les Battersby took him in, and his mother, Cilla Brown arrived and fell in love with Les. Cilla and Les have since married.

In 2004, Cilla used Chesney as a prop in a scam to sue Rita Sullivan for ABH but the scam failed. Chesney attempted to run away after his mum left without him but Les took him back in. He was given a pure breed dog, Schmeichel, named after Peter Schmeichel, by Maya Sharma. He also made friends with Sophie Webster.

In 2005, he conned several residents at Easter into giving him chocolate eggs. That August, Schmeichel was run over by a bus driven by Claire Peacock, leaving Chesney devastated, but his companion pulled through. He walked in on Sally Webster whilst she was in the shower. Chesney seeks revenge on Les, after Les tells everyone about him seeing Sally in the shower, which threatened his friendship with Sophie. Nevertheless, Chesney and Sophie are still close friends.

In September 2006, Fiz and Kirk bought Chesney a second-hand computer and Roy Cropper taught him all about internet auctioning. Typically, Cilla has taken over, selling anything and everything just to get some easy money.

Chesney was created by Chris Parker, a member of the Coronation Street writing team from 2002 to 2005. The writer is reported to have named him after Chesney Hawkes, the one-hit-wonder pop star whose fame peaked at the time of the fictional character's birth.

Love interest

Chesney seems to be developing a crush on Sophie at the moment, having shared his feelings with his step-dad, Les Battersby.
