I appreciate what you're doing on this, but I think it could be useful and help avoid later arguments if some of us involved in this area could agree early on what the categories should be. Have you looked at List of blues musicians ? There are many problems with that page - and I'm sure there will always be the same problems with potential over-categorisation as you will have come across in relation to jazz categories - but there are also clear and obvious differences with your list of categories. For instance, I think there needs to be a category for Jazz blues musicians, and I'm not sure what "juke joint musicians" really means in practice. Also, if you're using states of origin, you will need to add in Georgia, etc - and if you're using places where people recorded (which is equally valid) then Memphis, NYC etc. as well as Chicago. It would be wrong to treat AMG as an infallible guide (if that is what you're doing, I don't know). Happy to help. Ghmyrtle 09:49, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Impressive list of categories - I'll have to get back to it in a day or two though. Ghmyrtle 09:59, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are other locational genres - Piedmont, Georgia etc, as well as Delta, Chicago - but I'll need to get back to it when I have more time. Ghmyrtle 10:00, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that, as you obviously want to get on with this work, I'll just have to come back with comments further on down the line, as they say. You're right about Piedmont / Georgia I think - shows how much I know about US geography .. Ghmyrtle 12:33, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Songster is a good category - the article needs some work though ! Ghmyrtle 12:39, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In principle I'd be more than happy to help, but I tend to shy away from commitments ! Ghmyrtle 13:17, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to help, but I may not be able to help that much or that quickly, esp. over the next few weeks when I'm probably going to be largely tied up in the real world. Who is nominating the lists for deletion, and where ? Maybe some of the lists are not absolutely necessary, but I'd certainly agree with you that most are. The other problem may be if you are getting all the info on categories from AMG, which is not totally reliable and may be a copyright violation ... ?? Ghmyrtle 11:32, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas A. Dorsey should stay as the title of that page rather than Georgia Tom Dorsey (which redirects) - although in his blues years he was indeed Georgia Tom, most would agree that his later career as the effective founder of gospel music, as Thomas A. Dorsey, is more important in the overall scheme of things and for which he is best known. Ghmyrtle 09:56, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Ben_Sidran_Chick_Corea.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:00, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DefaultSort & References repair at George Paxton

Hi MindMeal, Do you know how to fix the References?

Somehow, when I was correcting the DEFAULTSORT for this swing band leader, the References got hidden. DO you know how I would fix this? Dogru144 08:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
