Onikyodai as Teammates

Are the Onikyodai necessarily Teammates of Zabuza and Haku? I thought they were just ninja that served Gato or Zabuza in a failed assassination attempt. The fact that they also weren't present in the battle on the Great Naruto Bridge doesn't support them being teammates either.

They were captured by Kakashi, dumby!

-Zabuza doesn't seem like the sort to have teammates, beside Haku obviously. I just figured that they were all ninja that Gatou hired, who happened to be nuke-nin from kirigakure.

Zabuza's Eyebrow's

Is there any reason why at some times Zabuza has eyebrows and at other times he doesn't? - Sasuke-kun27

actually, zabuza does have eyebrows, its just that sence he is looking angry all the time so they are bent on an angle with his eyes, and there are very few shots in which it is close enough to notice

Then why does Naruto refer to him as a browless freak in Japan and he made a slightly different comment about Zabuza having no eyebrows in english?

That's because he doesn't have eyebrows, the English dub messed it up, so at times he has no eyebrows and at others he has them, it's just a technical error made when the U.S. was dubbing it. In the oringinal Japenese version he has no eyebrows the entire time (this is also seen in the manga).Sam ov the blue sand 01:52, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Momochi Zabuza → Zabuza Momochi – As pointed out in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Anime_and_manga#Naruto_character_article_titles, the current names for articles about Naruto characters are inconsistent with the names used for other anime characters (Naruto characters use Japanese order for names, while most other anime characters have their name in Western order), as well not following the naming guidelines in WP:MOS-JA.

Question concerning etymology

Zabuza apparently means never cuts twice, but this doesn't make sense to me. Considering the verb 切る (kiru) means to cut, I'm wondering if this is just something I'm not familiar with (I'm not a native speaker nor am I fluent) or is of chinese derivation. On that note, what's the deal with the Zanbatou? Horse cutting sword? I get the to suffix, but isn't うま (uma) horse? 154.20.135.89 03:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From Jim Breen's WWWJDIC, the last kanji in Zabuza reads and means '斬 ... ザンサンセンゼンき.る beheading; kill; murder'. The first two kanji together mean something along the lines of "not repeated", "not done again". Given this, the translation is somewhat figurative.

As for the Zanbatō, the article gives the kanji as 斬馬刀 - literally "kill horse sword." --Pentasyllabic 12:24, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, did you know that Zabuza performs the Water Clone Jutsu with a half tiger seal, and Kisame Hoshigaki has to use a full tiger seal to create Water Clones? Dragonball1986

Eyebrows

well, anonymous user, there alot of things unexplained, such as oro's pale skin, slitted eyes, etc. and the "eyebrows" are actually just the ridges above his eyes.

gaara doesn't have eyebrows ether but no one picks on him

Sword

Is it just me, or does Zabuza's sword change size?

Zabuza's sword isn't one a real ninja would carry around. It actually looks alot like a ZWYHONDER a German sword used for chopping off legs of hourses. Also, if the sword really is a zwyhonder, then why would he carry it around in a timeframe like Naruto's? It doesn't make sense.

Do you mean Zwiehander? It is called a zanbato in Japan, and it did exist for that very reason you listed, by the way. Ya, I didn't know how to spell zwiehonder. But if a Zanbato was used for cutting off the legs of hourses, why does Zabaza use it to cut people in half and stuff like that? It is pretty friggin awsome though.

For the same reason Sagara Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin used it to cut people in half: it is merely a fantasy rendition of a historical weapon, like Itachi's shuriken tricks in Sasuke's flashbacks: do you seriously think someone would, or even could, do that kind of crazy trick in real life? PLEASE avoid posting personal opinions and questions like this. If you're curious as to why a sword would be used that way, read the Zweihander article. They were: "Kakashi, bury me... next to Haku."

No they aren't. In fact he never even says that once. He tells Kakashi to do him a favor, that he wants to see Haku's face again. Then he thanks him when Kakashi takes him over to him. After that he begins to talk about how Haku was at his side from the start, and how now he is at his in the end. Defy Gravity

Is it just me, or can Zabuza's sword defy gravity? It sits on his back with nothing holding it up, can fly a hundred feet at high speed despite it's weight, rise up twenty feet when only a few feet from the ground, and Zabuza can lift it with one arm using incredible accuracy even though it's bigger than he is.

It would not be so amazing and attention-grabbing if it looked light enough to sling around like that. It's merely one of those things that is meant to add to the 'fantastic' value of the series. Actually the sword IS really heavy. After Orochimaru dies in Naruto 2, Sasuke takes Suigetsu a detour to the spot where Haku and Zabuza's graves are in the Wave country. There Suigetsu takes his sword and comments that's heavy. In fact, Sasuke even asks him if he's sure he can handle it by himself...Link's Awakening 05:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to that question about how the sword stays up, the guy is right. That strap goes up from his belt, loops around his neck, and comes back down. There's nothing to attach to.

It's not really stolen either. Suigetsu suggests that the swords are inherited down the line of the seven-swordsmen. Since Suigetsu claims he was poised to become one, a good case could be made to say that it's his sword anyway. Retlor 11:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of Sword

Does anyone have any idea what the name of his sword is? (Ex.: Kisame's sword is called 'Sharkskin')Manga_King

Supposedly "Kubikiri Houcho" or "Kobikiri Hocho". Means Head Chopping Cleaver.

Mass murderer?

I am deciding on whether I should change him from Category:Fictional mass murderers to Category:Fictional murderers. Looking at Sasori's page, he should be in the mass murderer cat. just as much as Zabuza — both character's have killed well over one hundred in their own pasts. Comments? Lord Sesshomaru

Zabuza is more a murderer than a mass murderer, and he's more an assassin than a mere murderer (Category:Fictional assassins is already categorized under Category:Fictional murderers). As for Sasori, he hasn't killed that many people; the Third Kazekage is the only actual murder I can think of, with everyone else he's killed being one of his former opponents. ~Snapper T o 04:22, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(Edit conflicted) — You're right about Zabuza, maybe. In retrospect, I recall that Sasori's puppets did most of the killings, not Sasori himself. I read in the manga that Sasori even eliminated an entire country; don't ask me where I've seen that, I forget. Do the puppets count in adding Sasori to the mass murderer list. Thanks. Was wondering if you knew the years each of the characters with main pages are introduced. For example, Naruto would be categorized in Category:1999 introductions. The main character would be categorized in the same year, except in the lesser cat., Category:Characters introduced in 1999 — which should be created since a cat. like Category:Characters introduced in 1964 exists. That seems quite useful, I bet. Though would it be alright to just guess that 2000 means 1999? I say this because the characters were first introduced in Weekly Shonen Jump in '99 supposedly. I need confirmation from someone before I start. Lord Sesshomaru
