Silver Knights (a.k.a SK as an abbreviation) is a home made 3D mech action game created by Teshima. It is popular in Japan, China (notably in Hong Kong), and in some areas of the US. Development of this game was officially stopped at beta version 0.05D, and beta-test version stopped at version 0.05G. It features over 10 mechs.

History

Teshima, and other few members started creating the game Silver Knights in a file named: SK. Later, changed to version files, ver0413, then to ver0.01. The first main mech created and designed was the Philotes. Later on, possibly the ver0.01, Cerberus and Icarus arrived.

Philotes, Cerberus, Tartaros, and Icarus became the primary mech of the game. They were planned to be the mechs in Story mode, which was never released, and the project was shutdown.

This is the order in which the mechs were released: Philotes, Cerberus, Icarus, Tartaros, Gigantes, Baccus, Zephyrus, Makikaze, Joker, Masamune, Gyges, Shiranui, Kaede

In 2006 spring, Teshima has officially said to have stopped all development of any new version of Silver Knights because he wanted to start "Gunners". Although this game has also stopped since Teshima has children now. However, he still supports the online host tower. -Note at the "current news section" in 2007, Teshima's support for silver knights had stopped, therefore a rumour spread suggesting a group known as TeamSK took over.It was also stated that TeamSK was curentley working on the game and that newer versions where to be released soon, but it was soon revealed that the rumour was in fact False.

-New history is created. During May 2007, Teshima has officially reported that he is going to work on SK once again.

SK for now on

TeamSK's support continues. Also, Teshima is going to work on the SK again, updates may be coming soon... After 2 years of inactivity,the project seems to be closed, but the source are moved to another programmer

Gameplay

The gameplay of this game is quite interesting. No mouse is needed for this game and only time you use mouse is when customizing colors of mech when you move around the view of the mechs.

These are the controls:

N=Lock on/Lock off

B=Primary fire/primary melee*

V=Sub fire/Sub melee*

C=Boost up^

X=Shield

Z=Option

Arrow keys=movement'

  • There are up to four swings in primary melee, and minimum of two. It depends on mechs. When in air, it first does fly attack, which boost toward enemy for a little distance, and hit. When pressing Sub melee right after primary melee does different sub melee than the normal sub melee.

^pressing "C" twice quickly makes the mech explosively boost up. Holding "C" would slowly boost the mech up. this is usually called super boost. 'Pressing the arrow key twice quickly boosts to that direction quickly but shortly. This is usually called quick boost.

The AI

This game features Battle mode and network mode. in both modes, CPU is available. CPU level can be changed "easy", "Normal", and "Hard". Although, AI of the CPU isn't using tactics. It's rather moving a lot. For example, in easy, the mech barely moves and attack, and never quick boost or super boost. I barely does melee combos. In Hard, CPU sometimes does super melee combos (the strongest melee combo of the mech) and moves around often and fire often. However, in Hard, they just simply go active, not smarter.

The game can fill the battle field up to six players (including CPU). In online play, there are option in host, the maximum players connectible. this is 2, 4 and 6.

Mechs

Philotes

  • Health:
  • Maximum sword swings: 4
  • Description: The most balanced mech in the game. It is good overall. Philotes' option is a turret, which attacks when you use your sub attack. A max of two can be deployed at any time. The main weapon is beam rifle which shoots one laser. Sub weapon is also a beam rifle, but it's a long beam. when there are turrets in air, they shoot the long beam as well.

Tartaros

  • Health:
  • Maximum Sword swings: 3
  • Description: This mech is quite interesting. When you have more than half health, Tartaros has a lot of armor. He will deal more damage, and takes less per hit. He is slower than Philotes while he has armor. When your health drops below half, the armor is destroyed. Tartaros becomes weaker, but he also becomes faster.

Tartaros' main weapon shoots two lasers. His sub weapon shoots a claw on a chain, which tries to grab your opponent and drag him to you. Option while armored allows you to shoot 8 rockets. When the armor is broken, the main weapon remains the same, but Sub weapon shoots twice. the Option is like shooting Main weapon, but from the arms.

Cerberus

  • Health:
  • Main Melee: 3
  • Description: Also known as "Cheap Mech #1" in US Forum. This mech is little tiny bit slower than Philotes. The mech is strong because main weapon shoots two red fire balls which curve quite well. Although, sub weapon, which is exploding ground in rows barly curve, and range is low. Although, if hit, it would likely to cause a lot of damage. Also, melee is very strong. in options, it allows four tentacle to be created, and fires the fireballs when main weapon is fired.

Icarus

  • Health:
  • Main Melee: 4
  • Description: The second fastest mech in the game. This mech is known to have the best melee attacks. This mech flys the best in the game as well. Main weapon is sub machinegun which fires three rounds of mini energy balls. This barely curves, and is weak. Sub weapon fires four rotating energy missiles. One way firing shoots straight almost non-curving missiles which rotates each other. If all four is hit, it would do a lot of damage. Second way to shoot is separate missile. Option doubles this mech's damage, and half the enemy damage for a little time. During melee, even with 4 main melees, it would do a lot of damage with option. Although, health is lower than usual mech. Easier to die.

Gigantes

  • Health: 2000
  • Main Melee: 3
  • Description: By far the most strongest mech in the game. This mech is quite heavy, and very slow, but is very strong. Main weapon fires a large rocket which explodes in impact. Sub weapon is the strongest weapon in the game, which might give a one shot kill. The sub weapon shoots four long duriation beam, and if hit directly, the mech is probably dead. The option fires homing slow moving missile. It explodes in impact. It follows the mech until certain range.

Baccus

  • Health:
  • Main melee: 3
  • Description: The third strongest mech in the game. Since stronger mechs are slower, this mech's option is green super boost, which allows this mech to move VERY fast for certain time, but cannot shoot. If collide with another mech, that mech gets damage. Main weapon is two sparkling explosive balls. Sub weapon fires two homing missiles which each missile splits into four.
