Artelon
Artelon® is a new type of biomaterial(polyurethaneurea) that acts as a temporary scaffold to support ingrowth and remodelling of host tissue. It is developed, produced and sold by the Swedish company Artimplant listed on the Swedish stock exchange. Artelon® has a unique combination of properties that opens up new clinical possibilities in multiple therapy areas. The material is used to regenerate lost or damaged tissue, including cartilage, bone, ligaments and tendons. The material was originally developed by scientists in Gothenburg to create an anterior cruciate ligament prosthesis. Today Artimplant has four products on the market that are cleared by the FDA.
