Has anyone else here gotten their tongue lasered and not clipped? I'm just curious to see how common this is.

I got it lasered off, too --71.242.192.150 02:29, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm 17, and I just got my tongue tie clipped yesterday, since then the tip of my tongue has been numb, would anybody know why this occured and how to stop it? It feels like when you cut off the circulation to your foot and it falls asleep. Should I be doing tongue exercises to prevent scar tissue??

It still feels numb for me after about 8 months of having it done. Also, watch out for the Listerine strips ;) --71.242.192.150 02:29, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"There is a fifteen year old girl in Wisconsin, that has lived with her tongue tied, never clipped, that has experienced slight to no speech impediments." I'm sixteen and I just got the correction done.. does that mean I can be in the article? (No speech impediments, either) --71.242.116.39 04:57, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see why not.
Removed "There is a fifteen year old girl in Wisconsin, that has lived with her tongue tied, never clipped, that has experienced slight to no speech impediments. This is also amazing as neither of her parents have any family history of this disease. She hopes that there will be ongoing studies into why this disease occurs, but as of right now, all she can do is hope." because it was anecdotal. Aeonite

Hi, My baby was tongue-tied at birth so I had his pediatrician clip his tongue. I AM SO GLAD I DID!! I would HIGHLY recommend anyone else to get their baby's tongue clipped right away. I was able to breastfeed right after it was clipped. It only cost a couple hundred dollars compared to my 4 year old nephew who just recently underwent surgery (they had to completely put him out) to get his tongue clipped. It cost them a couple thousand dollars. Again, I am so glad I had his tongue clipped. His was pretty bad. I'm sure he'll thank me when he's older. I would've hated for him to be teased about it.

You have no idea how much I was picked on before I got the surgery... oh wait I wasn't picked on. 68.162.118.128 00:54, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-So I guess you've never kissed anybody then?

Hi, I'm a dentist and have been doing lingual frenectomys for about 6 years It makes a huge difference for nursing mothers. I believe in it so much I do it as a free service. The American Accadamy of Pediactrics changed there thoughts on this as of 2004. Most infint have little or no feeling up to six month. It is easy and only takes one minute or two. There is also a huge coralation to moms shape and amount of tongue tie difficulty. User wooddental@earthlink.net

My daughter was born with this same problem and I was worried about her speech and considered doing a clipping. I spoke to a doctor and did some research on the internet and found out that all kids with this problem dont necesarily have speech or any other problems. I decided not to do the surgury and now she is five and speaks perfectly. However she has a some what large open gate where the lingual fraenum meets her teeth. Can anyone tell me if this will go away once her adult teeth come in?

Hi, I was tongue-tied as a baby but had it operated on when I was two. I havnt had many problems with my speech but often get complaints that I speak too quickly and I was wondering if being tongue-tied is anything to do with it 15:20, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't think the problem is with speech alone. When your an adult, it affects your sex life as far as kissing goes. I have a slight case of it, and it has affected me. I'm thinking about having it clipped because it has created a problem with past girlfriends being unsatisifed with my kissing. Brentt 03:15, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
