Welcome to the WikiProject concerning Constructed languages. Our goal is to create and improve articles about this subject.

If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

Scope

Generally

  • Observing, maintaining, organising and improving all articles on Wikipedia relating to constructed languages.
  • Providing a reliable source of information regarding constructed languages, available on request.

Specifically

  • Expanding stubs into substantial articles.
  • Whenever possible, putting in good articles on notable conlangs.
  • Making sure that all current conlang articles meet certain criteria, such as:
    • it should be made clear in the article why the language is notable, interesting or unique;
    • each article about a conlang should contain a sample of the language, when available;
    • applying the {{language}} template in all conlang articles;
    • if applicable, each article should contain good references, bibliography and external links sections.
  • Preparing a conlang template (see below).
  • Discussing a list of conlangs that arguably deserve articles (the "Things you can do" section on Portal:Constructed languages could serve as a starting point)
  • Nominating non-notable and/or non-verifiable articles for deletion; moving them to the Conlang Wiki at Wikicities if warranted.
  • NPOVing conlang articles are positive summaries added by self-interested creators, or nominating them for deletion.
  • Applying the criteria for inclusion that will turn out from the straw poll about our proposed policy regarding conlangs.
