Billy Dennehy
Billy Dennehy born 17th February 1987 in Tralee, is a young, Irish, left sided midfielder currently playing for Sunderland.
He began his playing career at local club Dynamos F.C until the club disbanded and he joined Kingdom Boys. There Dennehy was called into the Shelbourne. Dennehy was brought to Sunderland by Mick McCarthy after the midfielder impressed during a trial at the Stadium of Light.
After trials with Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Southampton, Dennehy signed for the Black Cats in January 2005.
The winger has not yet made a first-team appearance for Sunderland but has been a reserve and youth player at Sunderland.
Dennehy was given the squad number 35 for the 2006-2007 season.
Trivia
He has younger brother, Darren, playing for Everton reserves. He is good friends with Sean Kelly who is currently playing in the Eircom League for Cork City He was the first person in history to represent his county at both Gaelic football and soccer, the second being Wayne Guthrie in 2007.
