Talk:UUNET
UUNet in Africa
Someone with background knowledge should extend this article on the UUNet activities in Africa: it is one of the largest providers in South Africa and fairly active in at least 14 other countries. See http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/internet/2000/0012141217.asp.

An interesting note about UUNET's name: It did originally stand for Unix-to-Unix Network, but after the company went public, the official line was that it didn't stand for anything in particular. --Blrfl
The company's most likely reference to UU not meaning anything was to avoid explaining the technical jargon of UUCP and how it was the company's bread and butter before the IP internet took off in the early 90s.

SPAM Section
I believe the SPAM section to remove the reference that UUNET has lost its luster amount Network Engineers since that remark is an opinion by the author and not backed up by any facts such as a poll of network engineers view of UUNET.
