Williamsville North High School is a public high school in the Williamsville Central School District of Williamsville, New York with an enrollment of approximately 1,569 students in Grades 9-12. The school offers a comprehensive program with multi-level instruction in all academic areas. The school is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents.

History

Williamsville North High School was built in 1969 becoming the Williamsville Central School District's second high school. Williamsville South High School was the first high school in the district.

In February 2006, Dr. William Krone announced his retirement as principal effective August 1st, 2006. His successor, Mr. Robert B. Tubbs, was the former assistant principal of Mill Middle School, also part of the Williamsville Central School District. Then in June 2007, after only one year on the job, Tubbs announced his resignation, effective July 11, 2007. Former assistant principal Petrina Neureuter would later take over as principal.

Student Council

The Williamsville North Student Council (affectionately called Stu Co by its officers) is one of the most respected Student Councils in its region, and has been called upon for consultation from schools as distant as Florida. It is one of few open Student Councils, where membership is open to all students enrolled in the school. Also, unlike any other area Student Council, its meetings are held during school hours. The officers also have an office located adjacent to the Junior and Senior cafeterias, used as a central facility for storage of supplies, and a work area for Student Council business. These freedoms are a result of the tireless efforts of the Student Council adviser, Michael Skinner.

The Williamsville North Student Council is in charge of homecoming festivities, including the theme, the dress-up days, carnation sales, the gym activity, the outdoor dance, the fireworks display, the pep assembly, and the semi-formal. It is also in charge of the canned food drive for Little Portions Friary, the Cystic Fibrosis Rummage Sale, in honor of Katie Ozog, a former Student Council officer who passed away due to CF, the Sadie Hawkins week dress-up days, Hush Hearts, the Sadie Hawkins semi-formal, and the talent show.

The Student Council officers for the 2008-2009 school year are: Colin Knoer, President, Rachel Coolican, Vice-President of Administration, Sam Smith, Vice-President of Student Activities, Melissa Dobmeier, Vice-President of Public Relations, Dominic Baranyi, Treasurer, and Stacy Cavagnaro, Secretary.

Sports

The Williamsville North Hockey Team coached by Bob Rosen, failed to make the state tournament in 2008 for the first time in 11 years, due mostly to the fact of losing key seniors, and having an abundance of sophomores and freshmen on the team to try to carry the load.

In 2006, the boys cross-country team won the Section VI Championship under the guidance of Coach Greg Stang.

In 2003 the Varsity Cheerleading Squad took 11th place at the AmeriCheer Nationals in Disney World, along with many other local titles.

Williamsville North High School has also been phenomenally successful in New York DECA in recent years, having two different state officers in as many years. Jeff Long and Andrea Berry served as Parliamentarian and Historian respectively in 2005-2006, and Jeff served as the New York DECA President from 2006-2007
