InstantAction is a web gaming site featuring 3D, browser-based games. The site was created by game and technology developer GarageGames.

InstantAction is currently in open beta, and hosts 7 playable games. Users are able to download their game content anywhere the InstantAction.com website can be accessed. This is possible because the site uses a digital distribution system to deliver games to its users (as opposed to disc-based console or PC games). Using a small plugin and initial download for each game, InstantAction hopes to draw a broad range of gamers looking for a way to play high-end 3D games without the hassle of having actual hardware or an extensive installation process.

A range of community features also appear on the site, including the ability to add friends, chat, and create parties which can jump from game to game together without being forced to leave the party and rejoin it.

History

In 2007, GarageGames received a majority investment by Barry Diller and Interactive Corporation (NASD: IAC). Soon after this announcement, GarageGames also announced the development of a new game platform called InstantAction. InstantAction.com went into open beta on March 31, 2008.
