Kuala Sanglang is a small coastal vilage and town at the border of Perlis and Kedah. It was founded by Penghulu Said bin Jaafar bin Enjang (1860-1960)around 1900 who open up an early sattlelement on Kedah Side. Penghulu Said is a Punghulu of Mukim Sanglang in 1900 until Japanese Occupation.In kampung Masjid where decendant of his follower settled. He donated two piece of land one for the mosque and the other for Muslim cementary.The rest for housing.

Penghulu Said Origin and Family

Penghulu Said Grand father Enjang was probably from Perak as the name Enjang signifies. While Jaafar is a seaman in Penang who later migrate to Kampung Sanglang where he got married and had 6 children. Penghulu Said was the eldest who was later appointed as Panglima( assistent and fighter) to Penghulu and later he himself appointed as Penghulu representing the Sultan of Kedah.

Penghulu Said Miltary Service

His miltary service was fighting in Penang during the War of Che Nyoya and arresting the infamous bendit Salleh Tui in Kampung Sanglang. His nephew that became Penghulu and Panglima are Penghulu Saari and Panglima Chin.

Origin of Name Kuala Sanglang

Kuala is essentially esatuary where river met the sea. According to Penghulu Said Sanglang original word is Sarang Helang which eagle nests found along the coast and estuarine.
