The Waitahora industrial wind farm is an industrial development in New Zealand proposed by Contact Energy. This development is proposed to be located in the picturesque Waitahoa Valley, near Dannevirke in Southern Hawke’s Bay. The project is planned for up to 65 wind turbines with a capacity of up to 177 MW.[1] The windfarm is opposed by the majority of local residents [2].

There are also several other industrial wind developments planned for the district, these are yet to be officially notified however four other power compaies are attempting to change the district plan. This underhand approach is an attempt to make it easier to get local governmant approval for industrial wind developments.
