Palali (Tamil: பலாலி) is a small town in the North Sri Lankan city of Jaffna. It has an important airport. Both military and small civilian aircraft land there. It is one of the main transport service connections Jaffna Peninsula with the rest of the country.

Palali Military Base

Pali is in a High Security Zone declared by the Military of Sri Lanka. Presently the residents of the area have been evacuated for military purposes. The majority of civilians previously living in this area were transferred to refugee camps. To date, the majority of these people have not received compensation for the confiscation of this land. This is the Jaffna Main Security Headquarters, comprising Kankasanturai Navy Base, the Palali air strip and the Jaffna Army Headquarters. An area of less than 25 square kilometers comprise the High Security Zone. There is also a military hospital in Palai.

Palali Air Base

Palali serves as the main lifeline in the northern Jaffna region, as there is no land supply route to government forces and the airbase is home to the military's main ammunition and fuel dump. Essential food items, medicines and ammunition are also being regularly supplied to the besieged Palali air base from south.
