Kumano Maru was a japanese aircraft carrier (also referred to as a "landing ship with flitght deck") completed towards the end of ww2. She was converted from a merchant vessel by the Imperial Japanese Army and she was supposed to serve as a support in landing operations. Due to her short flight deck the aircraft could not land on her and were planned to land on airstrips ashore. The ship could also carry a number of landing craft.
