Alur is a panchayat town in Kanniyakumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Alur had a population of 12,964. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Alur has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 51% of the males and 49% of females literate. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
