Heat Guy J

Heat Guy J is a 2002 Science Fiction anime series created by Escaflowne creator, Kazuki Akane and Satelight. It was licensed and distributed in the U.S. in 2003 by Pioneer. (now known as Geneon) It also spun off into its own short manga which was licensed and distributed by Tokyo Pop. The show also was broadcasted on the cable channel MTV 2.

This series chronicles the cases and adventures of a young Special Services officer named Daisuke Aurora and his powerful android partner simply named "J." (Although androids are considered illegal in Judoh, so J is kept in secret within Special Services) The series takes place in the fictional futuristic Metropolis of "Judoh." (Jewde) (The series also implies that it takes place on someplace other than Earth) The main characters work for the mainly understaffed (and sometimes underfunded and underpowered) Special Services Division of the Bureau of Urban Safety. However, Judoh is also home to the Mafia group known as "Vampire." The last don who ran the organization has died and the group's rule is inherited by his son Claire Leonelli. Heat Guy J mostly involves Daisuke and the powerful J keeping Vampire and Claire's criminal activities under control.

Characters

• Daisuke Aurora - Department of Secured City, Central Headquarters Special Services Employee, 21

Cool, calm and collected, (and seemingly lazy) Daisuke is the part of the main force behind the Special Services Bureau. Quite often he prefers spending his time defnding the streets and avoiding any paper work involved. (Hence a running joke of him "not turning in his reports.") Although he never really shows it, Daisuke is quite compassionate and has a strong sense of justice. However, he has deep and painful memories of the vanishing of his mother and his father (a polititian) being murdered by an android. The only memory of his father is a bullet pendant he wears around his neck.

• J (a.k.a. "Heat Guy J") - Special Services Android, Appearance of a 40 year old Man

An android with incredible power, the titular character was created in cooperation between a government facility and a civilian enterprise. Despite his hulking size, J can run at enormous speeds and packs a powerful punch. However, this causes a lot of steam to be released from his mechanical body. (Hence the name "Heat Guy J.") Partnered with the young Daisuke, J is very noble of character and has his own values and beliefs on how "a man should act." J is also maintained by the Civilian Enterprises, Antoni Bellucci. It is said that J is modeled after Antonia's father.

• Kyoko Milchan - Department of Secured City, Central Headqaurters Special Services Auditor/Accountant

A young auditor and accountant for Special Services, Kyoko is a straight-laced person who always plays by the rules. However, her job creates all kinds of stress when dealing with Daisuke and J, and she often scolds Daisuke for not turning in his reports. She also harbors a crush for Daisuke's brother Shun. (Who is also the General Manager of Special Services.)
