René Simard is a pop singer from Quebec, chiefly popular in the 1970s. He was discovered and managed by Guy Cloutier.

He is the brother of Nathalie Simard, who is also a singer and also managed by Cloutier. In 2004 Cloutier was convicted of sexual assault on Nathalie when she was a child.

In a 2004 book written Briser le silence (Breaking the Silence) by Michel Vastel, Nathalie Simard alleged that René had co-operated with Cloutier in trying to persuade not to publicize her assaults, mismanaged her finances when he was her legal guardian, and discouraged her from seeing a psychologist. On November 18, 2005, René Simard held a press conference in which he denied these charges.
