Hank Stanley Nowak (born November 24, 1950 in Oshawa, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played 180 games in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, and Boston Bruins.

Hank Nowak played left-wing for 3 different teams throughout the 70s. He was a disciplined checker, that could contribute occasionally to scoring chances and pot the odd goal.

Born in Oshawa, Ontario, Nowak spent 2 yrs with the Oshawa Generals of the OHA. Chosen 87th overall by the Flyers in 1970. (this was the amateur draft) He was assigned to the Quebec Aces. also [played with Richmond Robins and Hershey Bears, then was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins)

After 13 games with the Pens in 1973-74, he spent most of the season in Hershey. Scoring 32 goals in 56 games. In May 74, traded to Detroit for Nelson Debenedet. Nowak scored 22 points in 56 games for the Wings then he was traded to Boston. with Earl Anderson for Walt McKechnie. 1975 post-season, Nowak scored 1 goal.

Better known as a "useful grinder", his piercing blue eyes and muscular build helped his play throughout the years. In 1975-76 he played 10 games for Boston when they reached the semi's.

Retired in 1980. Went on to work for the TTC. Hank is currently retired from the Toronto Transit Commission.

Hank Nowak is still playing occasionally in the ASHL, as a taxi squader for the notorious 'Toronto Blue Hogs.'
