The Abbey Church of St. Mary the Virgin at Sherborne (scir = "clear" + burne = "brook") in Dorcetshire, England, is usually called Sherborne Abbey. It has been a Saxon cathedral (705-1075) and a Benedictine monastery (998 - 1539) and has remained a parish church ever since.
