Isabella Hofmann (born December 11, 1958) is an American actress, born in Chicago, Illinois. She is best known for her lead role on Homicide: Life on the Street as Lt. / Capt. / Det. Megan Russert and suppoting roles on JAG as Meredith Cavanaugh, Dear John as Kate McCarron, and on Beggars and Choosers as Cecile Malone.

Life and career

Hofmann performed with the comedy troupe The Second City before breaking into television in 1986. She attended Columbia College Chicago.

Among her various television credits are Meredith Cavanaugh on JAG, Kate McCarron on the NBC sitcom Dear John, Lt. Megan Russert in the crime drama Homicide: Life on the Street, and Cecile Malone on the Showtime comedy Beggars and Choosers.

She played "Annie" in the 1990 movie Tripwire.

Hoffman was involved with Homicide co-star Daniel Baldwin for many years. She and Baldwin have a son, Atticus, who was born on July 13, 1996.

She graduated from East Troy High School in East Troy, Wisconsin in 1975.
