The word "Ging" was always used as a colloquial term for a sling shot when l was a young lad growing up in Melbourne, Australia in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Shanghai was also a popular slang term for a singshot. Projectiles for your "Ging" were rock's known as "Yonnies".
