Hubert Perrodo

Hubert Perrodo was the creator, leader and owner of the oil group Perenco.

He was born in 1944 in Larmor-Baden in Morbihan to a family of fishermen and died on December 29th, 2006, in a climbing accident in Courchevel.

He was the president of the independent oil group Perenco, which produced then more than 240,000 barrels (38,000 m3) of petrol per day.

Prominent art collector, and in particular of painting, he had started to gather a pretty collection of interesting works. Very good player of polo, he won the tournament of the Queen (Queen's Cup), in 2004, with his Labégorce team.

He was also a large wine producer. At the time of a journey to the Château Giscours, in Margaux to play polo, he become aware of a property to be sold, the Château Labégorce Zédé, also in Margaux. He bought it in August 1989. In 2001, he repurchased the Castle of Abbot Gorsse de Gorsse, in February 2002. He signed the acquisition of the Labégorce-Zédé Castle, and in June 2006, he bought the Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker - 3rd classified vintage of Margaux.
