Brochiraja aenigma is a recently identified skate known from a single specimen. Based on the single specimen, its range is include at least the Wanganella Bank on the Norfolk Ridge.[1]
Due to the limited knowledge of its biology and extent of capture in fisheries, this species is presently assessed as Data Deficient.[1]
