Cristo Rey High School Sacramento is a private, Roman Catholic high school in the Fruitridge Manor neighborhood of Sacramento, California. It is on McMahon Dr between Stockton Boulevard and 65th street. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento.
Background
Cristo Rey HS opened in August, 2006. It is part of the Cristo Rey Network of high schools, the original being Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago.[2] The school is co-sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), the Sisters of Mercy, and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
Class of 2010
On Thursday June 3, Cristo Rey HS graduated its first graduating class. The first graduation ceremony was held at St. Ingatius Loyola Church.[3] The class consisted of 53 students and 100% of those students were admitted into colleges and universities.[4]
Book about the Cristo Rey Model
In January 2008, Loyola Press will release a book titled More than A Dream: How One School's Vision is Changing the World (More than a Dream official site). The book, authored by G.R. Kearney, a writer and former volunteer teacher at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago, documents the unlikely development of the Cristo Rey model and its remarkable success throughout the United States.
