Danny Kyle (12th December 1939 - 5th July 1998)was a Scottish Folk singer-songwriter. Danny Kyle was a passionate supporter of traditional music and a constant campaigner for its revival in Scotland.[1] He was an important figure in the Scottish Folk Revival of the 1960's.

Biography

He was born in Paisley, Scotland in 1939 and he was brought up in a 2 bed tenement in McKerrell Street, Paisley with his 3 sisters. Later on in his childhood the family moved to Renfrew Road, Paisley where he lived until his death in 1998. At 15 years old he left school and went to work at "Babcocks" in Renfrew as an apprentice engineer. [2] In the early sixties Kyle started his career as folk singer-entertainer on the flourishing folk club circuit of booming folk song revival. He soon became one of it's most the influential and popular figures.

Danny Kyle died on 5th December 1998.
