1930 World Cup

Why didn't the Swiss try to qualify for the 1930 World Cup?

I don't think there was any particular reason, very few countries entered the first World Cup.

What a shameful victory aganst Korea !!!!

Your team members were 14 but those of Korea were only 11. The officials of that match were blind and should be eradicated from world soccer society alongwith Blatter(not sure of his name). Handball and offside contribute to your dirty victory.

huh? The game was played by both sides in a good way. The Swiss are partying up large... Italy next. [1] Wallie 23:06, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Switzerland handball team did very well with the help of referees. They turned a blind eye to Swiss hands all over the place blocking balls from France, Togo, and Korea. Even trying to get the ball in with their hands. I wonder if they ever used their feet! Decent team and hard-working, but they cheated. I feel sorry for coach. He seems like a nice guy and even pointed out that there should have been penaltie kicks awarded against them for at least one of the tripping actions by a Swiss player against Adebayor.
Swiss team characteristics:
1. Block opponent's goal with hand.
2. Try to score goal with hand.
3. Trip opponent in penalty box, knowing referees won't grant opponent penalty kick
4. Push, shove other players, knowing referees won't do anything
5. Coach referees on what calls to make.
6. Always be on offside.
I agree. It was a shameful victory, but all games Switzerland played in were like that.--222.233.205.228 01:37, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is ridiculous!!!!!!!! The Swiss played an excellent game. The goal against Korea was correct!!!!!!! The korean touched the ball last. About the handballs: none of them was deliberate. The referee saw that. There was no hand movement towards the ball at any time. Even if Togo and South Korea would have been awarded penalties and if the Koreans would have scored in thsoe penalties then the score would have still been 2-1 in both matches.

Team colors

I've seen the Swiss team on pictures wearing the home colors (red/white/red), but I've yet to see them wear the away colors as listed in the topic in this world cup (2006). But I did see them wear a full red uniform. Are the current color schemes for the team correct ? A lot of teams wear red, maybe the full red uniform is only for the world cup, but I'd doubt that.

Switzerland's loss against Ukraine, June 28 2006

The primary reason for their loss that day was because Referee Horacio Elizondo was not present in order to come to their rescue. Under a righteous referee, they were defeated 3-0 by Ukraine. With unfair referee like Horacio Elizondo, it is evident that they could have easily defeated even Brazil 5-0 with little effort.

Elizondo is known to constantly thwart and incapatiate the offensives of Switzerland's enemy with fouls for apparently no reason, while ignoring (in fact encouraging) numerous handball fouls, trippings, pushing, and arm pullings commited by Switzerland players in order to launch their offensives.

Switzerland would have defintely not lost to Brazil because if they can almost defeat France (which they almost did the last three times they can definetly tie against Brazil. Brazil is overrated.
