The following is a list of characters in the Gameworld Trilogy by Samit Basu.

Ravians

Kirin

Kirin is the primary characted in Samit Basu's gameworld trilogy.

Template:Spoiler Kirin is a half-ravian , half rakshas, son of Narak and Isara. At the conclusion of the great war, when the ravians decided to leave this world, he was left behind and turned to stone. This was because he was not fully ravian and could not pass through a ravian portal. The other ravians never dreamed that Danh Gem himself was Narak, so they think he is fully ravian. Kirin was woken up by Spikes, and had lost all his memory. He initially thought that he was a human but he realized after some time that he was actually a ravian. He became the close friend of Maya, who suspected that he was Simoqin's hero.

Kirin discovers a book in the library of Kol which was full of magic and purported to be written by Narak. This book spoke to him and revealed that his task was to slay Danh Gem when he rose again, but until then, he would have to work with the followers of Danh Gem.He thus joins the brotherhood of renewal, and helps them to get the five things they need to raise Danh Gem.

On the day of Danh Gem's arising, the brotherhood meets in the circle of Imokoi and lays down the five things needed. All but Kirin are turned to stone. Danh Gem materializes as a ghost like form Kirin tries to kill him but cannot as he is not in material form. Danh Gem reveals to him, in style reminiscent of star wars, that he is actually Kirin's father.

Kirin understands he is being offered a choice, between becoming a dark lord and trying to put things right in this world, or to let the brotherhood create havoc by starting the war. Kirin chooses the former as he decides the latter is too heroic. He ascends to the throne as Dark Lord

In The Manticore's Secret, Kirin has new enemies to fight. This time around, he has to deal with mysterious shapeshifters and lethal mind-controllers in a classic battle of good versus evil. The whole is made even more exciting or deadly, depending on whose point of view the reader is listening to at that moment by the presence of a beautiful woman who is not a woman (read: human female), but a rakshasi with morals that are well fairly dubious.

Template:Endspoiler Kirin appears to be a humorous character, with no ability to manage anything. He is a rather ineffectual dark lord and is not at all sure about what to do.

Myrdak

Myrdak of the house of Aegos is a ravian warrior who was assigned to destroy the evil human vaman alliance that held sway over Kol, the most marvellous of human cities and to bring about the return of the rightful King of Kol.

He is described as being the greatest ravian warrior alive. His powers of telekinesis and mind control, and his skill at wielding the sword are described as immense, almost mythically invincible. His pride and arrogance and a contempt of any lower races of people is inborn in him.

He abducts Maya, and challenges dark lord Kirin to a duel, knowing he would come to rescue the girl he loved. The duel, which lasted for many hours resulted in him getting the upper hand, even though Kirin was armed with his shadowknife and his rakshas powers. He then pushes Kirin into a state of trance duel, in which Kirin had no experience at all.He wins the trance duel, but as he emerges back into the real world intending to strike Kirin down, the shapeshifter Red kills him with his own sword.

Peori

Peori, of the house of Hanash is one of the primary antagonists of Samit Basu's novel The Manticore's Secret

She is described as being a ravian warrior, wise and strong, a scholar as well as a warrior. To her was assigned the most important task: to find the son of Narak and Isara, the key to understanding the world.

Her excellence at fighting is best depicted in the verbal exchange between the Peori and The Silver Dagger who had, until then, seemed a master of his art, and almost invincible even though he didn't possess any magical abilities:

She raised her arm and his dagger flew back into her hand.

She smiled kindly at him.

'Coward,' he spat.

'Corpse,' she replied. Of course, you have to know about the Silver Dagger to feel the full impact of that exchange.

Behrim

Behrim, veteran of the great war was assigned the task of slaying Danh Gem reborn, destroying the rakshas lords and thus restoring the honour of the ravians.

Behrim was of the house of Esmi. While it is shown that he considers the rakshases to be entirely evil, he is ready for peace in this world. When Myrdak and Peori betray the council of the ravians, he undergoes a major change in his perception of the ravians, and thought they were not so noble after all.

This is in accordance with the laws of the secret brotherhood, which ensured that all younger princes of Avranti who were too eager for glory wuld be dealt with this way. However he is rescued by the Silver Dagger and his men, on the orders of the civilian of Kol, who wanted him to be the prophecised hero of the Simoqin prophecies.

The civilian sends Asvin to study with Mantric, best of the Koli spellbinders, who was now on a vacation on the island of Bolvudis. They also meet Sir Cyr who seemed to be a harmless knight of Ventelot.

Gaam is the mentor and teacher of Asvin on Bolvudis. He teaches Asvin how to wield all types of weapons, as well as telling him about the world in which he lived.Asvin goes on a series of quests, earning renown as well as many magical objects. Silver Dagger/Amloki
