John Rood

John C. Rood currently serves as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterproliferation Strategy at the National Security Council. In March 2006, featured an article about the On July 11, 2006, President Bush nominated him for the position of Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Non-Proliferation.

Prior to his current position, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Forces Policy at the Department of Defense. Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Proliferation Strategy, Counterproliferation and Homeland Defense at the National Security Council. Mr. Rood received his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University.
