Warning vandals

Hi, AbsolutDan. I wanted to let you know why the vandal you reported hadn't been blocked. 69.76.47.134 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) had not been warned since November 19. In general, a vandal must have been warned recently before they are blocked — that's why the listing was removed. I've warned him now, and if he vandalizes again in the next 24 hours or so, relist him, and he'll be blocked. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 00:55, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem — we all have moments like that. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 01:06, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

buzzword bingo

I respect your decision to omit my version of buzzword bingo but I respectfully disagree. Here is why:

(1) My version is at least as good, and generally better, than the existing external links, most of which are "print and use" rather than "enjoy online" versions. Please take a look:

http://www.hss.caltech.edu/~mcafee/Bin/meetingterminator.html

If mine doesn't belong, neither do most of these.

(2) My version will likely be maintained more than a decade; I generally support my links permanently. I have over 2 GB of material on my various websites.

(3) There is no advertising of any kind anywhere on my sites. I don't make a living -- or even any money -- off the web.

If after reading this you continue to think that the external link is inappropriate, I will defer to your greater experience and commitment. You need do nothing since I have not changed it since your edit.

Finally, the site is purely html and javascript and an alternate solution is to incorporate into wikipedia as a working example. The relevant files are

http://www.hss.caltech.edu/~mcafee/Bin/meetingterminator.html http://www.hss.caltech.edu/~mcafee/Bin/meetingterminator.js

This program is already open-sourced and I would be happy to have it included internally in wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Prestonmcafee (talkcontribs) 22:42, 3 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Fair enough. (I suspect Yahoo will add it since I am taking a leave of absence to work for them.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Prestonmcafee (talkcontribs) 03:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Removed Instreamer link from Shoutcast

You're right that it is a commercial link - Instreamer is a commercial device. However now when you removed, people will now think that it is possible to feed Shoutcast with software source only, which is not true. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.221.122.143 (talkcontribs) 08:21, 4 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Link removal

Dan, I do not get it you removed the link I added what is the reason? please give me some details —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.102.97.211 (talkcontribs) 15:54, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

You appear to be editing under a dynamic IP address or are not signed in, so I cannot check your contributions to know which link you're referring to. Can you let me know which article contains the link I removed? Thanks --AbsolutDan (talk) 01:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
