License tagging for Image:Kennedy Rd March 14 Sept 2005.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Kennedy Rd March 14 Sept 2005.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

images at Abahlali baseMjondolo

I think that we don't need so many images at Abahlali baseMjondolo. Also, I'm concerned about the legality of many of them. Are they your pictures, or do you have rights to them? If you do, let me know, and I'll fix them so that they aren't deleted. But if they aren't yours, it might be better if you get explicit permission from the owner of the pictures for rights to show them. If you need help with anything (anything at all), let me know. Thanks, I'm enjoying the article and some of your other additions. Smmurphy(Talk) 01:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that maybe we could reduce the number of images in the article to three or four? Also, they should all have tags similar to the one at this image. Other copyright tagging options can be found at WP:ICT. Smmurphy(Talk) 04:01, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think I should tag the pictures, as they aren't mine. Many of them are marked "Fair Use" or "Free Use" which probably is not the right way to release them. Most pictures on wikipedia fall under three categories (this may be way off, but its my understanding): Fair Use stills of famous people or artwork/movies/theater, which are fair use because they are low quality reproductions of promotional type materials, "Public Domain" images created before the 1920s (this is the US way of looking at it, relevant because the WP (short for WikiPedia) servers are in the US, I believe), and user created images, which are released with various copyrights statuses. For your own images, you should read the different options at WP:ICT and decide if any of them are appropriate. Once these are applied, they are supposed to remain in place indefinitely, so make sure you are comfortable with the way you license your work. Once you've decided, you need to click on the image you are looking at, click "edit", and add a line such as {{pd-self}} (or whatever license you like. This will be sufficient.
Sometime soon I'll remove some of the images from the page so that it looks a bit nicer. For an idea of the look and feel of the best WP articles, check out WP:FA. Also, try to remember to put ~~~~ at the end of your edits to talk pages, so that people know who you are and when you commented. When you type that, it automatically puts the end of the comment in the format you see at the end of mine. Peace, Smmurphy(Talk) 14:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:14_sept._kennedy_road_march.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:14_sept._kennedy_road_march.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:20, 17 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. bluemask (talk) 10:20, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recently all of your images were taken down because there was some question about their authenticity. Please feel free to reupload only those images which you know you have rights to and which you will tag correctly. I sincerely hope to see good, free images on the Aahlali page soon. Thank you. You have been accused of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
