Just for the record, of course we don't want the Blessed Likeness displayed in this manner. I'm sure it was first put there by a non-Baha'i - possibly in all innocence. But this is not a Baha'i site, and whether it stays there or not is really is not up to us. Unless you somehow know better than the UHJ! Read what they have to say on the subject. Nor is it up to us to attempt to dictate to non-Baha'is (in any way shape or form) what they should believe.

The picture is currently at the end of the article, with what amounts to a warning to Baha'is. With the picture is a clear statement about how we feel about it. Please understand that, although this is not how we would have chosen to do it - it is none the less a reasonable compromise, which Baha'i editors on this site have fought hard for, and which is still occasionally attacked. The alternative (and the ONLY alternative) would be for it to appear at the head of the article, in the standard way for a biographical article. I suspect you would agree that would be much worse than the current situation. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 10:35, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

:Hello Secthayrabe, as Baha'is of course we hold the image of Baha'u'llah in the utmost reverence, and thus we would not like the image of Baha'u'llah to be posted. However, the guidance on the reverence for the picture is for Baha'is, and does not apply to people who are not Baha'is. Note that Wikipedia is not a Baha'i website. The office of Information at the World Centre has noted that "as the creator of the site is not a Bahá'í, there is little, if anything, that can be done to address this matter." Wikipedia has no censorship policy, which is interpreted to mean that if the picture of Baha'u'llah is not included, it is tantamount to censorship, which is against policy. Thus as Wikipedia editors we have to abide by Wikipedia policy as it is not a Baha'i website. The picture is already at the bottom of the page as a manner of courtesy, and any disruption in the page would cause the image to go to the top of the page.

Blocking the image in Firefox
1. Go to the directory that stores your Mozilla Firefox profile. On Windows XP, it looks something like
:<pre>
C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows User Name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random digits>.default\chrome\
</pre>
:where
::<Windows User Name> is the name when you log into Windows XP
::<random digits> is a 8-digit alphanumberic string which is random, and which Firefox uses to protect your data from hackers
2. In that directory open a file called "userContent.css" (or start a new one with that name if it does not exist).

3. In that file at the top enter this code
:<pre>
img[src*="Bahaullah_from_miller"] {
display: none !important;
}
</pre>
4. Restart firefox

That should block the image for you, and you alone

I wasn't looking to delete the page, as it has a lot of good content. It does however need re-working. For example, the introduction should be an overview of when the elephants were used, their varyiong importance, or whatever. I was only looking to re-word and/or re-organise certain parts of the article. If you want, I'll send you what I come up with before I edit the page itself.

Hi Secthayrabe!

I undid your deletion of the map at Writing system, not because I think you are wrong when you wrote in your edit summary that the map is incorrect, but because I think the map is perhaps 99% correct.

There is currently a dicussion of inaccuracies in this map at talk:Writing system; I think you should bring up your concerns there.

Of course, if there are major errors in the map, it should be removed until they have been resolved - but your edit summary did not make it clear if you think that is the case.

You do not need to reply here or at my talk page; I'm watching talk:Writing system.

Hi. I would recommend that you ask User:Jeff3000 this question. He would most certainly know the answer, as he is a prolific editor on Bahá'í-related articles. Khoikhoi 00:21, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello Secthayrabe, as Baha'is of course we hold the image of Baha'u'llah in the utmost reverence, and thus we would not like the image of Baha'u'llah to be posted.
You can always disable the image of Baha'u'llah for yourself by following these instructions. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 15:47, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Blocking the image in Firefox

1. Go to the directory that stores your Mozilla Firefox profile. On Windows XP, it looks something like

C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows User Name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random digits>.default\chrome\
where
<Windows User Name> is the name when you log into Windows XP
<random digits> is a 8-digit alphanumberic string which is random, and which Firefox uses to protect your data from hackers

2. In that directory open a file called "userContent.css" (or start a new one with that name if it does not exist).

3. In that file at the top enter this code

img[src*="Bahaullah_from_miller"] {
       display: none !important;
}

4. Restart firefox

That should block the image for you, and you alone Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 15:47, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Persian War Elephants

I wasn't looking to delete the page, as it has a lot of good content. It does however need re-working. For example, the introduction should be an overview of when the elephants were used, their varyiong importance, or whatever. I was only looking to re-word and/or re-organise certain parts of the article. If you want, I'll send you what I come up with before I edit the page itself. AfD nomination of Persian Cataphract

I have nominated Persian Cataphract, an article you created, for deletion. Persian War Elephants

I'm going re-write everything you have written that does not fit wiki's guidelines on tone of language; the content (i.e. the actual information) will remain unchanged however. I've not researched this topic to the length that you have, so I'm not going to remove or add any points of my own. Canislupisbarca (talk) 13:18, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

If you delete the map again (feel free to do so!), please state at the talk page or in your edit summary what errors you've found.

You do not need to reply here or at my talk page; I'm watching talk:Writing system.

Yours, Noe --Noe (talk) 16:22, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
