Akyem Bosome

Akyem Bosome describes a traditional geo-political entity.

A nation state with a non contiguous land mass that exists today in the Eastern and Ashanti region of Ghana.

The capital of the present day nation state of Akyem Bosome is Akyem Swedru, a town with a population of approximately 12,000 people.

It was founded in 1831 through a purchase of land by Bosompem Ntow II from the Aduasa family of Barima Atwere of Akyem Wenchi.

After the acquisition of the land by Bosompem Ntow II, the Bosome people then migrated from the area around present day lake Bosomtwi in Kokofu to take possession of the land.

Other primary Bosome settlements are :

Adiemra, Amantia, Anamaase, Aperade, Babianeha, Brenase, Ofoase.

There are also the settlements of Adieto and Yaapisaa at Kokofu and Ehwuren and Atafram all in the Asante region that owe allegiance to Akyem Bosome.
