For the mechanical device see Lug nut.

Lugnut is the name of a fictional character from the various Transformers universes, not to be confused with the separate character of Lugnutz.

Transformers: Animated

Lugnut is incredibly the strongest of the three main Decepticon (which are only loyal to Megatron), with a sense of absolute loyalty to Megatron to the point of religious fanaticism. Unfortunately, his devotion annoys even Megatron and is mocked by the other Decepticons. He has a special punch with the power of a small bomb, carries a payload of mega-bombs and can spew liquid napalm with laser-like accuracy. But he much prefers to rip things apart with his bare hands. [1] [2]

According to show creators Lugnut is inspired by The Incredible Hulk.

Animated series

Among the Nemesis Crew, Lugnut abandoned ship to evade an explosion that took out most of the Nemesis. Lugnut would later come to Earth with Blitzwing, finding Megatron while clashing with the Autobots. After being defeated by the Autobots, he and Blitzwing ended up in pieces along Lake Erie, and as a twist while begging a sign of forgiveness from Megatron, Starscream found them offering to repair them on the condition that they pledge their undying loyalty to him. However, never pledging his allegiance to Starscream, Lugnut received new orders from Megatron to get the Allspark Key, with Blitzwing helping in taking it from Ratchet, so it can restore Megatron's body. In the Decepticon's subsequent assault on the Autobots, Lugnut would be defeated by Bulkhead, who used his wrecking ball to set off the Decepticon's "bomb punch" attack early, causing it to blow up in Lugnut's face. In the episode "Garbage In, Garbage Out", Lugnut was sent by Megatron to locate Allspark energy, and met with Wreck-Gar, who had been brought to life by an Allspark fragment. But due to his target's rambling, Lugnut was convinced that the suggestible Transformer is a ally and unknowingly convinces him side with the Decepticons, but was easily frustrated by his scatterbrained antics. Wreck-Gar later spilt trash-eating nanobots on Lugnut while he was in jet mode, and, misinterpreting his scream of "get them off me!", detatched his tail section, causing Lugnut to drop out of the sky. In "Rise of the Constructicons", He and Blitzwing were trying to steal supplies for the decepticon space bridge but got away with only some of it because of the Autobots. Later he and Blitzwing were hauling more supplies but was slowed down by Blitwing, running into the Constructicons, and almost thinking they were autobots. After Blitzwing conned the Constructicons into doing the dirty work for him and Lugnut, the latter just commented on how they can't bring back Scrapper and Mixmaster back to the mines after Blitzwing said they come with him and Lugnut. At the mines, Lugnut was about to use his punch on the Constructicons before Megatron showed up. Surprised, Lugnut fell backward, activated his punch, and possibly destroying something in the process.

Toys

  • Voyager-class Lugnut (2008)
Features two spring-triggered Automorph action features. Even though it is a Voyager-class toy, it is out of scale with most of the other toys in the series, standing no taller than 6 1/4" (15.57cm) tall to the top of the shoulder wings.
In December of 2007 a prototype of the Lugnut toy was auctioned off on eBay. [3] Another, fully painted, was auctioned off on eBay in March of 2008.
