Augusto Martínez Sánchez (1923-2013) was Cuban politician and military leader who served a number of major posts in Cuban government.

While serving as Minister of Labor, in 1964 he was removed from the position by Fidel Castro because of strong allegations of corruption.[1] On December 8, 1964 he committed a failed attempt of suicide and after that never returned to public life. In late 2010, he traveled to Miami to visit his son Augusto, exiled there since the 1980s, and afterward returned to Havana.
