Axel Hamberg (1863–1933) was a Swedish mineralogist, geographer, explorer and professor. He was appointed at the University of Uppsala. The Spitsbergen glacier Hambergbreen is named after him,[1] and also the Hamberg Glacier of South Georgia.[citation needed]

The mineral hambergite is named in honour of him.[2]
