Redirects

Can some one tell me how I can get my wiki page called Master camouflage out of redirection or can some one tell me how to find this redirected page. I was told that I had to recreate with a new headding but the new headding got redirected. The page redirected and the page deleted are: Master camouflage (redirected to crypsis) and Phyliidae and Extatosoma tiaratum was deleted, causing me to loose all the info on that page al together.

Image copyright problem with Image:Thorax, wings.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Thorax, wings.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:16, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(: ADMINSHIP :)

I am going for adminship at 12 years of age! Nominate for me Wikipedia:Requests for adminship Help contribute to me being nominated for admin please click the link above and follow the prompts to nominate.

BJ (talk) 03:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated you

Hello Ben (bjaco18) I have seen your page and loved it i saw all of your pages on stick insects and how you care for them and raise them, so I have actually nominated you for adminship on Wikipedia. Good luck :)

I have deleted the above image. Please do not take images from other websites and upload them under licenses that they have not been released under. This could get both you and Wikipedia into legal trouble, and continuing to do it will result in you being blocked from editing. J Milburn (talk) 18:25, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have also deleted all of the images you have stolen from other websites, leaving only the ones you took yourself. Consider this a stern warning- stop uploading images from other websites as your own. On the other hand, please feel free to continue uploading your own work- that is more than welcome. Proposed deletion of Long & short winged

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Long & short winged, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? J Milburn (talk) 19:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Bjaco18, a page you created, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Bjaco18 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Bjaco18 during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 19:18, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Long & short winged

I have nominated Long & short winged, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Long & short winged. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? J Milburn (talk) 21:08, 14 May 2008 (UTC) [reply]

friendly advice

If you would like to withdraw your AfD, please just place {{db-self}} on the page & it will be taken care of with no fuss at all. It's really to your interest to do so--it wasn't that great an idea in the first place, as I'm sure you realise. I apologise for us all that you weren't simply asked first before starting the MfD deletion request. DGG (talk) 18:30, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think DGG is referring to your RfA (request for adminship), rather than your AfD (article for deletion). J Milburn (talk) 18:37, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice :) BJ (talk) 20:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Very Angry!

Someone has deleted Half of my page Titan stick insect which makes me really mad because that was one of my biggest pages, Now I have to re-do-it. Please reply if the person finds this page. :( BJ (talk) 21:06, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't agree with the changes that another user has made to a wikipedia article then you can easily revert their changes to an earlier version of the article. See the page Help:Reverting for details. In this case (i think) that User:J Milburn was repsonsible so it may be an idea to discuss it with him on his talk page (User talk:J Milburn). Thanks, Nk.sheridan   Talk 21:22, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it was me. Your work is still accessible in the page history, so you can get the text if you want it. I removed the information because a lot of it was unencyclopedic- for instance, information about how to keep them as pets is interesting, but it isn't suitable for an encyclopedia article; perhaps somewhere like WikiBooks (maybe their book on pets) would be a better place for that information. On top of being unencyclopedic, none of the information was referenced. On Wikipedia, we must cite what we say to reliable sources. Hope that helps- ping me on my talk page if you would like to discuss the matter further. J Milburn (talk) 21:30, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:REQUEST LETTER PLEASE READ

First of all, block capitals are not a good idea- a lot of people will just ignore messages formatted in caps. Secondly, the images were taken from elsewhere with copyright licenses incompatible with Wikipedia, and you claimed them to be your own work and claimed you had released them under a free license. Publishing someone else's work as your own is stealing. Images that have not been released under a free license are almost always incompatible with Wikipedia, and I would not advise uploading any until you are more familiar with our image policies. J Milburn (talk) 21:25, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can find the removed information by clicking on the 'history' tab at the top of the page. J Milburn (talk) 21:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading images to wikipedia

Hi, Bjaco. Uploading images is quite a complex area. There is a tutorial to look at here which might help you understand what you can and cannot upload to wikipedia. cheers, Nk.sheridan   Talk 21:33, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Adminship

Hi- I don't think you're quite ready for adminship yet, but don't worry about it- being an admin doesn't get you more respect, it's just a few more tools to help you edit Wikipedia in different ways. You'll need a little more experience writing articles and doing other things (taking part in discussions, for example) and you will need some more knowledge of our policies and guidelines. You might also want to learn a little more about what an admin actually is. J Milburn (talk) 09:34, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Good morning

Hello again. Firstly, I'm not called Jack- where did you get that idea? Secondly, I'm really not sure what you mean- there's not a paragraph at the titan stick insect article about keeping them as pets- there used to be one, but there isn't one now. What do you want help with? J Milburn (talk) 20:34, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, if you mean Wikibooks, I don't think I can help you there- I have never edited Wikibooks, so I don't really know how it works. Sorry. J Milburn (talk) 20:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm Josh. I can't take it to Wikibooks- as I say, I don't know anything about it over there, you'll have to go and create an account and add it yourself. The text that used to be on the page was-

Keeping them: The leaves they eat are: Blood Wood gum, cypress pine, grey box gum, paper bark, scribbly gum and more. The cleaning tools: tweezers, forceps, scoopers, sifters etc. The nourishment tools: Spray bottle, Horse furr paint brushes (small) The health/cut tools: Nail hardener for exoskeleton repair, health-exotic pet vet Dr will give advice on how to heal the internal injury.

If you were having trouble finding it. J Milburn (talk) 20:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Document for J millburn

A tag has been placed on Document for J millburn, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 21:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can see the page, as I'm an admin- the content isn't really appropriate for Wikipedia- why did you create that page? If you want the content to go on Wikibooks, you'll have to go and add it there yourself, not add it in various places around Wikipedia. J Milburn (talk) 21:18, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather not discuss matters by email, if it's avoidable. Is this a confidential issue that cannot be discussed on talk pages? J Milburn (talk) 21:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right, you have already set an email address for this account, so you can email me your problem by going to my userpage, and clicking the link 'email this user' below the search bar on the left. This will open a box where you can type your problems, and it will be sent to my email inbox. I would prefer it if we kept our communication limited to the Wikipedia email system. My comments were originally made at User talk:Nk.sheridan- the site you saw them in is just a mirror. J Milburn (talk) 09:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Featured article and adminship

Articles are promoted to featured status by being nominated (at featured article candidates) and then discussed, and then one of the featured article directors decides if the article is good enough. Writing a featured article takes a lot of work (I've only written one- this) because they have to be nearly perfect- see the list of criteria. At the moment, none of the articles you have contributed to would even have a chance of becoming good articles, never mind featured article. As for becoming an admin, your request for adminship would be closed early as it would have no chance of passing. You just don't have the experience with Wikipedia yet- you don't seem to quite understand exactly what an administrator actually is or does, you don't have much experience with our policies and guidelines and you don't really have much experience with article writing. It's probably best to wait until you've had a good bit more experience with Wikipedia- wait until you've had a few disputes, written a few decent articles, had some experience with article deletion and got to grips with our image copyright rules, among other things. There are a lot of things that admins have to be reasonably proficient with, but the key thing is that they are trusted by the community, and you haven't really been around long enough to show that you can be trusted. J Milburn (talk) 20:53, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, it doesn't. Some people choose to edit under their real names, others don't. J Milburn (talk) 21:29, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 27, 2008

Hi. I reverted this edit. Today's featured articles are chosen soley by the FA director, User:Raul654, or User:SandyGeorgia. Thanks. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 21:47, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I explained this to you, Ben. Featured articles have to be nominated at the featured article candidate page, and must meet certain requirements. None of the articles you have written are anywhere near the required standard yet. J Milburn (talk) 21:52, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your two questions

I don't know if Weird Al has ever edited Wikipedia, perhaps this category will be of interest to you. I don't know exactly what you mean about gold stars, but if you click 'edit this page' you should be able to find the code that I am using to put things there. However, remember that people do not appreciate you lying on your userpage- for example, saying that you're an admin when you aren't. J Milburn (talk) 10:59, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In answer to your other questions, instructions about how to create userboxes can be found here, and information about redirects can be found here. You may want to check for a Wikipedia space page with instructions before asking for help in future- there are guidelines and help pages for most things. J Milburn (talk) 21:39, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean barnstars? Users award them to one another when they feel the other user has done a good job with something- they can be awarded by/given to anyone- not just admins. J Milburn (talk) 22:04, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User Adoption

Hi, I've noticed that whilst having added some good content you might interested in learning more about editing, wikipedia policies and usage of images etc. As such, it might be an idea for you to look into the user adoption program.

In this program experienced editors/admins assist new users with the ins and outs of wikipedia. All you need to do is add the text {{subst:dated adoptme}} to your userpage and someone will adopt you! Cheers, Nk.sheridan   Talk 22:32, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't recommend that you adopt someone else, I think Nk.sheridan meant that you would benefit from being adopted yourself. You aren't quite experienced enough with Wikipedia yet to be at the stage where you should be adopting other users. Also, I did not fight with another user, nor did I 'turn him emo', you appear to have misjudged the situation. As for cleaning up the page you pointed me to, I am unfamiliar with the subject matter, why don't you do it? J Milburn (talk) 11:10, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Then why not ask the person who tagged it? J Milburn (talk) 19:31, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Click the 'history' tab? J Milburn (talk) 19:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You join a WikiProject by adding yourself to the list of members, but a lot of people who do WikiProject work don't bother to add themselves. I'd rather not to be the one who adopts you, I think there are others who will be able to help you more. J Milburn (talk) 20:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You'll have to get some software to do that, there isn't a on-Wiki tool for image modification. I'm afraid I can't recommend any particular programs, as it is not something I've ever really done. J Milburn (talk) 21:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I already have a dad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sector311 (talkcontribs) 17:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 20:59, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ben, the above article completely lacks WP:MOS. Headline, section break, image positioning and external links need to be fixed. I think you should create separate article for each insect. Because different information on insects under one article really makes whole entry vague and reader might lose their patient. Thank you--NAHID 06:03, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have made some drastic changes to the article. I suppose, on the surface, it would look very rude, as I have removed all the species sections that already has an article. I created links leading to the appropriate articles, and on the way had to create half a dozen redirect pages and do a page move.
Don't lose heart. Once individual species are appropriated to their own pages (yep, I believe they must have their stand alone pages... that's showing some respect to our join-legged brethren) we can start filling this article up with information on their population in the Brisbane area, their impact on the locality (a couple of them have the effect of a plague in the Great South East, right?), and so on. Brisbane should be the ruling factor in this article, not generalized description of each species.
I am also for adding back a gallery of images, so that the people of Brisbane can identify their insects by their looks when coming to this article (I can help doing that too). I am ready to lend a hand here, since I am the one who hacked the article down to a tiny stub. May the force be with you. Aditya(talkcontribs) 14:11, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here are a few links that might help: Practical Conservation Biology, Zoological Catalogue of Australia, True Gardens of the Gods, Tropical Fruit Pests and Pollinators, and Lepidoptera, Moths and Butterflies. Forgive me if they are not of much use. I promise to dig up more stuff, and actively lend a hand. Aditya(talkcontribs) 14:32, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I've had a look at your user page, and removed (oversighted some, deleted other) privacy related information. I feel that the degree of self-disclosure you have given of personal details, is a real concern and may be a Bad Idea. I hope you will respect that, be guided, and be okay with it.

Thanks, and happy editing!
