    What to do about RockReviews

    I'd like to have a bit of advice for this. Wikipedia:Most wanted articles currently lists RockReviews as one of the most linked-to non-existent articles. This is solely due to the work of Wiki4U (talk · contribs) who has added infobox links to the reviews from this website. However, I strongly doubt that the website itself can be considered as a significant reliable source and of course, since Wiki4U has made no other edits than these, there's a clear spam concern. The irony is that if someone were to create the article, it would probably end up being deleted because it falls quite short of the expectations of the relevant guideline. So what's the right move here? Remove all the links? Remove all mentions of RockReviews? De-link RockReviews so that it stops being a most-wanted article? My own take on it is that we should just remove all 79 reviews since they are insignificant but I'll be happy to have second opinions. Thanks, Pichpich (talk) 20:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    This is a commercial Merchandising blog, which is in violation of WP:EL for the article Asia (band). The site is registerd to "DEVGEL PRODUCTIONS", which is John Payne (singer)'s, merchandising company ( Devgel Merchandising ).     Some new additions that are being reverted when deleted by bot --Abert's Towhee.     Add links to wiki pages

    This may sound complicated but it’s actually very simple.

    Wiki pages: The pages to add the link to are the wiki pages which cover the birds of North America. A list of the names of all birds is attached to this job description. You can find any bird on the wiki by entering its name into the wiki search box: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

    Here is an example for one bird page:

    Abert’s Towhee

    Goofy166 appears to be the same user as the user on rentacoder (goofy166 on rentacoder); User Veeksha is also active there (Veeksha on rentacoder).

    Yes, you are completely right, the site is certainly useful and informative. Unfortunately the site owner is not convinced that his site(s) get enough of that credit, and resorted to paying people to spam his site. But here, we are writing an encyclopedia, not a linkfarm. For more information, see WP:COI, WP:SPAM, WP:NPOV, WP:NOT, WP:EL. Hope this explains.     This sems to be a pretty clear case of heavy spamming with intent to get around our processes:

Warned in January by User:Philip Gronowski and User:OhNoitsJamie for spamming this link. Since then has set up lots of throwaway accounts which are used to add just one or two of these links.     Spamming by the accounts and IP are occuring from the Universities "Information Technology Services " address, probably an overzelous webmaster--Hu12 (talk) 22:56, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    This is not spam, by any definition. Various people, over the course of 18 months, have improved Wikipedia by posting links to valuable resources hosted at a university library. Some of the editors Hu12 has accused of spamming posted a mere one or two links, as much as 18 months ago! Are we to believe that they were part of some sinister long-term spamming conspiracy?
    I have reviewed every single contribution by every account and IP that Hu12 has accused of being part of this spam operation, and not found even one link that was clearly inappropriate. (The worst I found was one link that was posted to an article that I thought was too general for the link to be useful. It belonged on a more specific sub-article.) Every single link was posted to an on-topic article, and provided a useful resource that happens to be hosted at the university library archives. That's what archives are for! And it's entirely appropriate for uni students, or people who work at the library, to post links to the archives where they will be found most useful.
    It seems to me that Hu12 has not only made a series of edits that degraded WP instead of improving it, but has also committed defamation against several editors, by posting his baseless accusations to their talk pages. I think he ought to visit each of those talk pages again and post an apology. And this entire section should be archived or deleted or whatever.     Dot Com Infoway is a marketing strategy and content developer, spamming Wikipedia on an incredibly large scale for several years. Both link and reference spamming. Also engages in link vandalism and article vandalism[4]. sites without adsense are "This site has been conceptualized, designed and created by Dot Com Infoway & Galatta.com "
