Greetings Wikipedians!
I'm Rob117. My interests are sci-fi/fantasy (particularly Lord of the Rings and the greatness that is Battlestar Galactica), evolutionary theory (particularly human evolution), paleontology (particularly dinosaurs), mythology (chiefly Greek, Germanic, Hebrew, and Mesopotamian mythology), and history (particularly the Ancient Middle East, Medieval Europe, Central Asia in any time period, and the spread of language familes).
I have a lack of patience for crackpots. Hence, if I spot material composed of pseudoscience and pseudohistory, such as creationism or "ancient astronaut" drek, where it doesn't belong, I will delete it.
Glad to be part of Wikipedia.
My Current Pet Peeve: Nationalism
As a history enthusiast, I often like to contribute to the articles on the history of various areas of the world. In areas that have had particularly turbulent histories in recent times, such as the former Soviet-dominated countries, there seems to be an unusually high instance of nationalism. While this is understandable, and while I normally wouldn't care, when it turns into historical revisionism, the line is fucking drawn. So please: if you come across some new information, cite it from mainstream academic sources. And don't start railing against the "academic establishment that wants to suppress the truth," because it doesn't exist.
A list of articles that contain nationalism and/or pseudohistory follows below:
My Hitlist- Offending Articles:
- Hungarian prehistory
- Celtic Christianity
- Origin of Serbs
- Indo-Aryan migration
- Saka
- More to come, unfortunately...
